  • Description

Hello! We're Pippi and Erin, an LGBTQ+ couple from New Zealand (Aotearoa). We met in 2022 in a creative writing class (on writing books for children). Erin was writing a book about tigers and the moon, and Pippi was writing a book about a crazy cat inventor with a secret workshop in the backyard. The rest is history.

We are two reliable, friendly and hard-working girls in our twenties who share big love for the ocean, road trips, caring for animals, being outdoors, and meeting new people. We are also enthusiastic pet-sitters, and have looked after a range of animals in our beautiful hometown of Wellington.

From May to October 2025, we're travelling Canada from the west to east coast. We're keen to take our time exploring new areas, learning new skills, and meeting some new people along the way. That's what brought us to Workaway! Thank you for reading our profile - we can’t wait to meet you :)

    ERIN --

Hello!! I’m Erin - I originally grew up in Canada (Toronto and Nova Scotia) and moved to New Zealand with my family in 2007. I have such vivid memories of Canada, and it’s such a dream to be returning with Pippi, the person I love most in the world!!! I work as a graphic designer and am looking forward to the creative inspiration that comes with travelling, meeting new people and new communities. I love writing, reading, drawing, getting out in nature, hanging with animals and swimming in the ocean. I’m passionate about animal rescue, and I volunteer with the dogs at our local animal shelter. For workaway experiences, I’d love to be close to nature, build lasting connections, experience new places and help out with any work that needs done along the way :)

    PIPPI --

Kia ora! I was born and raised in New Zealand (the North Island). In 2023 I graduated with a bachelor's degree in media and communications. I have just on two years' work experience in the national fire service, so I am familiar with fire safety regulations. For example, my team worked on risk reduction campaigns teaching lifestyle block owners how to minimise fire risk on their properties. I also have five years experience as a search and rescue volunteer, and twenty-two years as an unpaid home renovator/garden landscaper (my mum is a farm girl with a lifestyle block haha). I love to spend time ocean swimming , playing guitar, and walking in the bush. I am a people person and I especially love to hang out with kids - I find kids so fun and energising! And I really love spending time with Erin and travelling to new places together. We go on all these mega nature walks around Wellington and have several months of experience housesitting as a couple. I'm so looking forward to going overseas and exploring, and seeing her reaction to being in Canada again!

PIPPI: Hi! I am a communications professional with experience in social media, digital marketing & copywriting - hit me up if you need a hand growing your personal page or small business. I also have five years' experience in a volunteer search & rescue team, so I'm good with my ropes/knots, first aid, and building demolition work. Growing up, I had lots of experience with oceans, marinas and watersports, as well as driving and maintaining small boats. I've had plenty of paid and volunteer experience with gardening / landscaping / tree-planting / orchards. I like to cook and clean. Gotta say - I Iove working with kids! They really energise and inspire me (one of my fave jobs I've had: taking kids' tours in a chocolate factory!) Oh, and I can make a wicked coffee. I have a couple of barista certificates and quite a few hospo gigs under my belt. I really like animals and Erin has been teaching me her skills with dogs (she has the magic touch!)

ERIN: As a graphic designer I love to draw and am eager to help out with any art projects big or small:) I’m a huge animal lover and have animal care experience with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, horses and sheep. I have a good knowledge of dog behaviour and training, and experience with anxious and reactive dogs through my work in dog rescue. I have hospitality experience in cafes and catering companies and enjoy service-based environments. I grew up with two younger sisters and I babysat for various family friends- I love hanging out with kids and also writing/illustrating stories for children. In a home environment I’m happy to babysit, help out around the house, do cleaning, general maintenance and cook family meals. It would be great to learn more about gardening and eco-projects - I’m keen to gain more experience in this area and learn how to live more sustainably!
