Description
Interested in hearing from anyone who can come from 4/5 November 2026 and stay until Christmas or longer (going home for christmas suits too). Preference to older workawayers- 23 + years and Female only for now *** experience with young children is essential

We are Deirdre and Kenny, a friendly couple living in a modern, comfortable family home just 10 minutes’ drive from Galway city. Deirdre works as a psychologist with the health service, and Kenny is a secondary school teacher. We have four lovely children: three girls aged 10, 7 and 5, and a little boy aged 3.
We live in a good location, close to major supermarkets and local shops, and just off the Wild Atlantic Way. Our home is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful West of Ireland, including Connemara, County Mayo, County Clare and the islands off the Galway coast.
We can offer you your own bedroom and bathroom in a warm, modern and comfortable home. We are a sociable, welcoming family and would love to host someone who enjoys being part of family life while also having their own space and time to explore Ireland.
The Help We Need
We are looking for someone to join us and help make busy family life run a little more smoothly. The role involves a combination of light housework and after-school support for the children.
Household tasks will be a big part of the role and will include helping to keep the house clean and tidy, vacuuming, laundry, folding and putting away clothes and occasionally helping with simple meal preparation.
Our three girls, aged 10, 7 and 5, attend school until 2:40 pm. We would love someone who can help them settle in when they get home, prepare simple snacks, supervise their play, encourage them to complete their homework and help create a calm, positive atmosphere after school.
Our three-year-old boy attends full-time childcare from Monday to Wednesday, so the main focus will be on the older children during the after-school period.
The hours will generally be on weekday afternoons, with the main childcare period from around 3 pm to 5 pm.
Who Would Suit Our Family?
We would love to welcome someone who is friendly, reliable, energetic and happy to use their own initiative. Experience caring for children would be an advantage, and it is important that you genuinely enjoy children and are comfortable supervising them and helping with homework.
We are looking for someone who can see what needs doing around the house, get stuck in and help things run smoothly without needing to be directed at every step. Equally, we appreciate someone who is relaxed, kind and patient with children and understands the lively (chaotic) nature of family life!

Help
help is usually needed with morning and evening tidy and clean and in the afternoons with the older children- to do homework with 9 year old and 6 year old, give the children a snack after school and organise some enjoyable activities focused around play . you will usually be free again between 4 and 5- earlier on fridays. Weekends are your own of course.
