    Description

We are a happy family of five (Ágnes (13), Mátyás (10) Zalán (6), and parents Anna and Ákos), living in a beautiful Hungarian village (Gheorghieni) near the city Cluj Napoca, in Transylvania. We've moved here 7 years ago, to escape from the busy city life, and we have found what we were looking for: our house it's on a hill close to a forest, so we often see deer, squirrels, rabbits. We have a small garden, where we try to grow the necessary organic vegetables for our family. Dad, Ákos, is a Biology-Geography teacher, and many times organizes activities, camps for his students, where the family also go, so our kids are used with being with people of different age, cultures; they are curious to find out new things and they love to play. We have also been hosting guests for 10 years, through another website, and this year would like to host people for longer periods.
    Hope to meet YOU soon!

    Update!
Generally in July and August we are looking volunteers for the following:
    1. participate to an Ecological Summer Camp for one week, organised by Ákos in a beautiful remote Transylvanian village, sleep in tent, have fun on daily outdoor activities, trips, meet great people, children, share your experience. Our children will also participate, and help needed in taking care of them, while Ákos has different activities.
    2. different tasks in the garden (weeding, watering, picking vegetables, etc). We have a small garden, we grow our vegetables, fruits on the permacultural basis, from the middle of July you can try our delicious tomatoes, cukkinis, beans etc.
    3. other outdoor tasks, such as wooden fence construction, painting, garden maintenence.
We are flexible so duties can be discussed depending on the given situation. But generally, we need some help around the house (general duties like: helping with cooking, dish washing, cleaning, etc) and garden (we try to grow our own vegetable), maybe some painting, maybe babysitting, maybe shopping. But we are open and flexible, so we can discuss about your preferences.
You could also play with our children, teach them English or Romanian, learn Hungarian from them :), join us on our daily/weekly walks with the dogs etc.
In summer period dad is also on vacation, so we plan to make trips in the country, where you are also welcomed to join us.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We prefer not to use telephone, tablet or other devices while we are with the children.
We have 3 dogs and 2 cats, dogs are outside, the cats are allowed inside as well.
We like traveling, so we can share our experiences with you, recommend you some of the nicest place to visit in Romania if you plan to spend some extra time.
Our village is very close to the city Cluj Napoca, there is a bus taking you every hour to the city, where everyone can find many cultural activities. The surrounding is beautiful, the forest is close, there are cycling possibilities, there is also a salt lake near.
