Nestled in the coastal range of Mendocino County, California (about 45 minutes west of Ukiah) we are establishing a small farm and wildlife sanctuary. Based on principles of sustainability & permaculture our expanding ridge top garden consists of a variety of fruits, veggies, herbs and flowers. We are a vegetarian household living very simply off the grid. Our homestead is remote.
Andreas runs his own solar company and installs both off-grid and grid tied photovoltaic systems. He has a background in mechanical engineering and is originally from Germany. I (Laura) have a background in teaching. I have taught in four countries. Currently, I am working at a local hot springs resort. Andreas and I both love to travel. We met in the Philippines and traveled between the U.S.A. and Germany for five years before purchasing land in Mendocino County.

Come learn how to live off the grid, grow and process organic food, harvest local wild foods, make herbal products and become a land steward. At times we may also be working on a green building project as well.
Aside from garden tasks additional projects may include gathering seaweed and other native wild foods, cooking, canning, fermenting foods, making herbal preparations, habitat restoration, brush and trail clearing, small scale green building and learning how to build and maintain an off grid infrastructure and solar system.
We are looking for hardworking self-starters who are open minded, love to work outdoors, want to unplug and would enjoy the serenity of a mountain forest. If you have ever thought you might like to homestead or purchase raw land then our farm would be a good place to visit. If you are looking for a commercial farm you will not find it here.
