Description
Nestled in the coastal range of Mendocino County, California (about 45 minutes west of Ukiah) we are establishing a small farm and wildlife sanctuary. Based on principles of sustainability & permaculture our expanding ridge top garden and orchards consist of a variety of fruits, veggies, herbs and flowers. We are a vegetarian household living very simply off the grid. Our homestead is remote.
Andreas runs his own solar company and installs both off-grid and grid tied photovoltaic systems. He has a background in mechanical engineering and is originally from Germany. I (Laura) have a background in teaching. I have taught in four countries. Currently, I am working at a local hot springs resort. Andreas and I both love to travel. We met in the Philippines and traveled between the U.S.A. and Germany for five years before purchasing land in Mendocino County.
We can use help in the garden, orchards, kitchen and with various other homesteading tasks. AND, WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH A SENSE OF BUILDING TO HELP OUT WITH VARIOUS BUILDING PROJECTS SPRING THRU FALL OF 2025.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Come learn how to live off the grid, grow and process organic food, harvest local wild foods, make herbal products and become a land steward. Learn even more about our lifestyle creating meals and eating together at times. Conversational language practice is available throughout the day. At times we may also be working on building projects.
Help
Aside from garden and orchard tasks additional projects may include gathering seaweed and other native wild foods, cooking, canning, fermenting foods, making herbal preparations, habitat restoration, brush and trail clearing, small scale building and learning how to build and maintain an off grid infrastructure and solar system. We will be sharing our knowledge and give clear directions on how to do many of the above mentioned tasks which will often be carried out with one of us or another helper.
We are looking for self-starters who are open minded, love to help outdoors, want to unplug and would enjoy the serenity of a mountain forest. If you have ever thought you might like to homestead or purchase raw land then our farm would be a good place to visit. We are not a commercial farm, but we may choose to sell our produce locally in the future.Languages
