Description
We are a retired Swiss couple living on a beautiful tanya—a large farmhouse—in the heart of the famous Hungarian puszta. A lovely garden and a spacious swimming pool invite you to relax and enjoy your time here.
Our guesthouse offers a charming room with a en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, and internet access—all ready for your stay.
Surrounding our home are wide pastures for our horses. We have four: one English thoroughbred, two Hungarian horses for both carriage driving and riding, and one Holsteiner mare.
We also share our home with six dogs, all rescued either from shelters or directly off the streets.
We would be happy to welcome a volunteer who loves horses and dogs and is an experienced, confident rider. Help with the garden, pastures, and occasionally cooking nice meals 😊would also be greatly appreciated.
Since we live in the middle of the puszta, a driving license would be very useful. We provide an old station wagon that our Workawayers can use.
The nearest airport is just an hour away by car. Budget airlines like EasyJet, Wizz Air, and others fly to Budapest. From the airport, you can reach us by train in about 1.5 hours, with tickets costing around €12. We’ll gladly pick you up at the train station in Kistelek.
We only host Workawayers who can stay for a minimum of two weeks—though longer stays are even more welcome!

We are located in the famous hungarian Puszta. The volunteer may use one of our two cars. Budapest and Szeged (beautiful Art Nouveau cities) are easy reachable by car in 70 minutes (Budapest) and 30 minutes (Szeged). The next small city is approx. 10 minutes from our tanya.
In this small city called Kiskunmajsa you'll find a big thermal bath with fun park, restaurants, etc.

Heni and Anna spent a month with us on our Tanya. Anna is a very good rider and looked after our horses. Heni is an excellent gardener and also cooks very well. We were very happy with Thaana - she is such a great workawayer! Really good with horses in all aspects, she could even ride our difficult Achal Teke and she lounges very well, too. And our 8 dogs just adored her and so did we!

Lucy und Hannah sind äusserst sympathische „workawayerinnen“. Sie sind sehr motiviert, packen überall mit an, sind immer gutgelaunt und es macht viel Spass, mit ihnen zusammen zu sein – wir haben viel gelacht und auch gearbeitet, ihnen war keine Arbeit zu viel.

Me and Hannah spent two weeks in summer with Bice and Jürg. It was such a great time and I already miss them both and all the dogs and horses! We spent two weeks with Bice and Jürg and it couldn’t have been any better!!
