    Description

We live on a couple of acres in S. Sligo in the foothills of mountains famous on one side,
for their neolithic passagegraves/ cairns and, on the other side, the very impressive mythological caves of Keash.
This is great walking country! We are happy to take people to places of interest and share our stories with them,
that way we do loads more walking in Beauty ourselves!!!
Personally, I am very interested in languages and love the opportunity to learn other languages and culture and minimalise the invasive stronghold of English on our lives.
We have 3 daughters, not generally home and 1 grandson and one granddaughter, 3 cats, a large veg garden and tunnel, flower gardens, an orchard and a mixed woodland plantation where we harvest most of our firewood.
There is a pizza oven for enthusiastic bakers , built by the multi skilled Sandro from Albania 2 summers ago, who loved to cook, bake and talk (all at the same time) in the great outdoors. We have never become as adept as he, but we live and eat as organically as possible ,mostly homegrown vegetarian food and home made bread. Also trying to adopt as many permaculture ideas as possible in design and maintenance. We do not have a clothes dryer as there is ample wind in West of Ireland to dry us. plz understand to wash your clothes in a dry spell!!
Also, dont expect to shower everyday, the system cannot cope, there are other washing facilities however.
We have a keen interest in natural history, esp. bird-watching and are involved in both a butterfly and a moth recording survey at our place. There are 2 beehives and as I am learner beekeeper any knowledge or expertise appreciated!
Traditional music is big, esp flute playing, and plenty of opportunities to go to sessions around about ,or learn a tune or two. And Poetry is big too; Wb Yeats being a huge figure of the cultural landscape here!
