I had a great stay with Ed and Petra. Had good fun working together with Ed on the house. Got trusted with some challenging projects and the results were much appreciated. Nice accomodation, beautiful views and good company.

Ondanks dat we ons gehele huis zelf hebben gerenoveerd, zaten we al 6 maanden zonder voordeur. Het leek onmogelijk om er een te vinden die wij vonden passen en mooi vonden. Toen kwam Nick langs, ik besprak mijn ideeën en hij vond het een leuke uitdaging. Met enorm veel plezier hebben we er samen aan gewerkt met een prachtig eindresultaat. Ook een
… read more paar andere antieke deuren kregen onder de kundige hand van Nick een nieuwe bestemming. Nick wist mij ook te helpen met een paar ingewikkelde electrische situaties. Hij neemt dan de rust om uit te vinden hoe het zit en het probleem op te lossen, maar bovenal is Nick een bescheiden fijne vent om mee samen te werken, Dankjewel Nick en sukses met het vinden van je eigen stek!

Ed kept excellent communication with me to be sure I easily found the home. I was very impressed that the apartment I stayed in (first floor of the house), had fresh flowers, fresh fruit, fresh food in kitchen, and even Easter chocolate eggs for us…prepared by a man! His greeting was like a favorite relative I had not seen in years. I was afraid
… read more that I could not leave an impact with only a few days stay, but now I believe I did! And I hope Wall Version III lives on with our name on it! It was returned with the most beautiful walking paradise through the hillside, showing me hidden natural treasures that should be kept secret by villagers. He listened when I mentioned I wanted to see the ‘village center’ and home building supply shops - I got what I asked for! His ‘Cultural Exchange’ area should be highlighted as a 5 star! He was open in sharing his life history, life lessons!, and tips on how to live harmoniously with the Portuguese people as an outsider. As I was aware, Petra arrived back home a day before I left, but I believe in such a short time that I have
made friends for life, and even better: with a great sense of humor. They are jewels.
Het was erg gezellig om Nina en Lili hier te mogen hebben. Ze hebben geholpen met een ingestorte muur weer terug in zijn oorspronkelijke staat te herstellen en veel gedumpt vuil helpen opruimen. Veel plezier op jullie volgende adres!

We hadden vooraf al leuk contact met Sunshine en dat voelde goed. Toen ze hier aankwam was ze gelijk een deel van ons. Een open gesprek met een mooi mens. The accommodations were beyond comfortable; I had my own private apartment complete with a small kitchen, bathroom, work/dining table, strong WiFi, and an incredibly cozy bed. Every meal prepared by Ed and Petra was delicious and filling, showcasing their generosity and love for good food.
During my stay, I took on various tasks, including chopping wood, gardening, building garden structures, household chores, and DIY projects. The work was rewarding, and in my free time, I enjoyed long walks through the charming village and their expansive property, which even features a beautiful forest with waterfalls. One of the highlights was celebrating my birthday at the local market—exploring, meeting wonderful people, and even helping them shop for more plants!
Despite my short visit, my time with Ed and Petra was truly special. They have so many stories to tell and lessons to share. Their energy is uplifting, their hospitality is unmatched, and their passion for what they do is contagious. I am so grateful for this opportunity and already look forward to returning with my family to continue helping with their projects.
