Description
We are looking for friends!
Our objective: We are giving value to initiative and action, not to words. We find meaning in our lives by being useful to other living beings. We are creating links with other ancapitalist communities, and wish to always meet more people looking for alternative ways of life. Our values are bringing us together from all over the world.
Conscience, mercy, and sincerity are our keywords.
We have been working in the humanitarian field since 2014, giving all our energy into supporting displaced families in Izmir Province. However, we still have a long way to go in establishing a sustainable community: learning a lot, and finding the good persons to work and live with.
We currently have four main activities with volunteers:
1.İmece Village: The village is a sanctuary, a place of building with solidarity. A fair and just community-based living environment where we sustain ourselves, take only what we need, and pass on any excess. We incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly practices wherever possible. We will have our Solar Age Program and educational activities also here starting in mid-June, 2025.
As we experienced in our past villages; here will bring volunteers, local people, and displaced women and children together with the values of conscience, mercy, and sincerity. You can be a volunteer and support us with your psychically, with your knowledge and ideas.
2. Back to School Program: With the 2 buses that we transformed into mobile schools, we are going to the fields where there are many unofficial settlements in which people from the Dom Syrian ethnic minority live in very difficult conditions (tents, no running water, etc). Most children do not access school. Our team is starting from basics (hygiene behaviors, fine motor skills, etc.) until teaching Turkish reading writing, and mathematics. Those activities aim to fill up the educational gaps so children can better integrate into the schooling system.
Speaking Arabic would help you communicate, but you can easily manage with sign language!
3. Solar Age Project: We provide formation in electricity and solar energy to produce rechargeable solar power banks for disadvantaged women. Then, these power banks are distributed in camps or emergency areas to provide the people in need with additional energy sources. The project aims to provide skills to women and support them to create financial autonomy. For this purpose, we have tools like electricity, ceramic, wood, and permaculture workshops. If you have knowledge about these ateliers you can participate in the production process.
a) Educational and Social Activities: Under the Solar Age Program in our community center at Basmane we have educational and social activities with the sub-Saharan African children who don't have access to school. We give them basic English, Mathematics, and French Classes with our team and the help of volunteers. Also, we are conducting social activities to support their well-being and creativity. If you like teaching and conducting activities you can participate.
4. Distributions: We have regular distributions in camps in the İzmir region and our community center. Also, we have distributions that we make when an emergency occurs (Earthquake zone in Turkey, Ukraine, Bosnia, Lebanon). You can participate in our İzmir region distributions in camps and other than that if you want to support the international ones you can help with the fundraising process.
In order to run these programs, we need the support of volunteers coming at least 1 month.
