Description
Little Daniela, Cristina and Jordon welcome you!
Help needed May-October. Our season starts around Mid-May, depending when the ice on the lake melts. The season generally ends at the end of October. Sadly, we cannot host anybody before or after.
As past, and current workawayer's, volunteering in three different continents, we now have the opportunity to offer a workaway experience to fellow workawayer's! The resort is located 45 minutes south of Kenora, Ontario, on famous Lake of the Woods. This is a fishing resort in a prime location. After too many years of the resort being run down, taking over in 2018, myself, my wife (who is from Ecuador), and new addition Daniela (2020) are the new management and we are well on our way making the resort great again!Types of help and learning opportunities

This is one of the most beautiful properties on Lake of the Woods, it is extremely relaxing here and is a great place to come and get a real Canadian experience. You have a chance to learn many different skills and share yours. Whether you love to fish, love yoga, love to cook, or love to play an instrument and want to jam with me, a workaway experience here will be an experience you will remember forever. Three meals a day will be provided, and if you go collect wild raspberries or blueberries for pancakes, you'll be a legend!

Help
We are requiring a lot of different kinds of help in all aspects of keeping the resort looking beautiful. From repairing and repainting the Resort's numerous walkways, keeping the grounds beautiful, installing doors and windows and everything in between. We like to have a very upbeat atmosphere out here, especially around and interacting with the guests.

Being a fishing resort we have well-equipped accommodation, photos are of the volunteer cabin. We also have an amazing beach and grass area to pitch a tent if you wish.
What else ...
There is lots to do with your free time as long as you love being in the nature and the bush! Kayaking, Canoeing, Camping on small island, bush walks, and of course fishing! Always catch fish 🎣 right of the dock!
The only way to reach the resort is by boat or plane. We do go into town quite often (groceries, supplies, guests etc.) and could easily arrange pick up from the Kenora bus stations and bring you to the resort.
We are located an hour east of the Manitoba border, not too many people realize how big Ontario is and how far away from Toronto we are (24 hour drive!!!). There is a bus company now doing the route Toronto-Kenora, 29hrs, 3 transfers, $250 est.
This is the same company that most our workawayers take from Winnipeg to Kenora.
We use the Winnipeg airport as our main hub which is two hours drive away from Kenora and there is rental car/ bus service available. Flair Air sometimes has one-way tickets as low as $53, no bags of course...... from Tor-Win.
Good option, take the bus one-way and a flight back the other. It's a big journey, but it is worth it for sure! Plus it's a beautiful drive/flight!

I was fortunate enough to spend 5 months with Cristina, Jordon, Cheryl, Cooper and the rest of the family, from May-October 2020. From my first contact they went above and beyond to help me out when I needed it and I joined them on the first boat out of the season.

Because it is the best place in whole Ontario. I drove boat, had fun work and campfires on the beach.
