Description
I, Evelyn, have been living here in Portugal for 12 years.
10 years ago, after almost 15 years of animal welfare experience abroad, I started doing animal welfare here as well.
Twelve Years ago I moved to Portugal. Ten years ago I started with my animal protection work also here in my village after 15 years of animal protection work abroad. Everything started by feeding the neighbours cats (now they are castrated), I began to pick up dogs from the animal shelter (where they are waiting for their death). I take care of them, try to heal their traumas and started to find new homes for them (mostly in Germany).
I try to show the portuguese people a better treatment of animals and achieved success in my village by watching them doing little steps forward.
I also help the people with their animals by medical pet care, castration and feeding homeless dogs. Nowadays I have mostly dogs on my property and try to find new homes for them.
Everyday there a many day-by-day work that needs to be done like feeding, clearing, go for a walk, laundry, house work, email. We work until every single dog is happy and clean. It's important you love the work here and aren't staring at the clock waiting for your 5 hours to end. I need help by people who have experience with dogs. In exchange, I offer food and a place to sleep.
My Quinta is around 110 km from Faro at the countryside.
Seit 12 Jahren lebe ich, Evelyn, hier in Portugal.
Vor bereits 10 Jahren habe ich angefangen, nach fast 15 jähriger Auslandstierschutzerfahrung, auch hier Tierschutz zu betreiben.
Alles begann mit der Versorgung von Katzen in meinem Dorf (inzwischen sind die Tiere kastriert und sterilisiert), dann begann ich Hunde aus dem Distriktstierheim - wo sie nur noch auf ihren Tod warten - zu holen, aufzupäppeln, ihre Traumata zu heilen und startete sie, vorwiegend nach Deutschland, zu vermitteln.
Ich versuche den portugiesischen Nachbarn einen besseren Umgang mit Ihren Tieren vorzuleben, mit dem Erfolg, dass die Anwohner meines Dorfes zum Teil bei mir Hunde- und Katzenfutter zum Selbstkostenpreis kaufen, auch die herumstreunenden Tiere füttern und mir auch Tiere bringen, um sie beim Veterinär kastrieren zu lassen. Ich helfe den Leuten mit Fahrten zum Tierarzt und bei der medizinischen Versorgung. Heute habe ich auf einem Gelände vorwiegend Hunde, die ich versorge und vermittel. Es gibt jeden Tag Routineaufgaben, wie Füttern, Wässern, Gehege und Gelände von Hundekot reinigen und Spazierengehen. Und auch zusätzliche Aufgaben, wie Bau- und Gartenarbeiten sowie Hausarbeiten fallen täglich an.
Ich kann tatkräftige, hundeerfahrene Hilfe gut gebrauchen und würde den Menschen, die zu mir kommen und täglich einige Stunden mit anpacken, gratis Kost und Logie bieten.
Der Quinta Esperanca befindet sich in Portugal, im Alentejo ca. 100 km von Faro entfernt.

I live very connected with my village and my network of animal protecters. Next to the animals care there is a lot of exchange with visitors and people from everywhere.

Für Hunde ist es wirklich schön dort. Die Natur ist der absolute Traum, das Areal ist liebevoll hergerichtet und bietet viel Abwechslung und Platz für die ca. 40-50 Hunde.

Idyllic Portuguese countryside retreat, only peace and quiet for the humans. More importantly, for the dogs, Evelyn’s place is paradise. Those that can are able to run free on the farm and cool off in the private lake.
