  • Description

Hi, I'm Scotty! I'm a friendly 39 yr old plumber turned Nurse from Australia (+UK passport, thanks Mum),

I love connecting with people & seeing life done differently. Love new ideas & concepts. I am very friendly and relaxed, I try not to take anything too seriously (myself included) and to make life as much fun as possible, for me & those around me. I aspire to remain open-minded and spread positive energy as a general rule. A bit of a humanist/hippy at heart, but still totally capable of fitting into mainstream society. Mostly.. .

Always trying to learn & grow.

Deep down inside, I want to be kind to everything that lives & make the lives of people I encounter richer. I believe we are all connected (but I don't get too cosmic about it). Huge value on honesty, always tend to admire genuine people. The type of people who are really good at being themselves. And friendly. Friendly wierdos, I like friendly wierdos.
Love laughter, hate laugh tracks. Love animals, hate cages.
    Hobbies/interests:
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Meditation, writing, reading, exploring, and saying yes to new things. I also just started learning piano.

    One day I will:
    Start my own BJJ academy
    Publish a few books
    Become a super bendy Yogi
Learn how to freaking speak Russian
Be a Workaway host with an awesome project
Own a pet bulldog named Thor. And a bird of prey ...name undecided. Maybe a goat too. (Preferably as an unintentionally comedic, genius, unlikely animal friendship trio...)
Learn to sail (one of my Workaway hosts brainwashed me really well)
Visit every continent on this planet
And I might just build a perpetual motion device too, for giggles.

Last year I graduated from university as a Registered Nurse, and have been working in a correctional setting as a new grad. It's been really tough. So I'm going to take a break from that.

Right now, I'd like to find a nice place, with nice people doing nice things, ideally somewhere pretty, where I can contribute to that. And take a little break from nursing, and prison, and just think about life for awhile.

If you liked my profile, feel free to say hi or ask any questions, especially if you have a project you think I might be a good fit in. I'm pretty friendly and straightforward.

Roughly a decade of various construction work exp in Roofing (metal), plumbing Demolition, Labouring etc. (high degree of manual dexterity). Familiar and capable with hand and power tools. Can cut straight and know what level looks like.
Through workaway I have worked with Goats, horses, birds of prey, reptiles, ferrets, rabbits, chickens, cats, dogs, Alpacas and tending tiny human children. I love animals and enjoy working with them. The tiny human children, ....I try. I'm not the most paternal character in the world. But I try.
Physically strong and capable (can lift stuff)
Mixed Martial Arts enthusiast, BJJ Purple Belt ; happy to teach any interested in learning or be a training partner for those already capable.
Tall- I'm really good at reaching stuff on the top shelf
I have a current AHPRA registration as a RN and background working with people with physical and mental disability, and in aged care.
Genuinely enjoy human interaction, skilled at connecting with people/making them laugh/not being an axe-murderer.
    Bar tending/kitchen-hand exp also.
Lots of communal living experience with varied personalities from all over the world
I am confident in my ability to learn and can do anything I put my mind to. I have been everything from Boat-builder to babysitter with Workaway. And lots in between!
    Also love animals!
