Hi there,

We are Josh and Sophie, a 24 year old couple from Sydney, Australia currently living in the UK for the past 2 years, we are passionate about travel and experiencing the diversity of cultures around the world! Beginning in June of 2025, we plan on travelling throughout Europe for around 4 months before heading back to Australia at the end of the year, experiencing slower travel through workaway and immersing deeper into the culture and daily life of each destination!

Josh is a furniture maker with a degree in Furniture Design and 5+ years experience working in the Joinery and Construction industries alongside working as a tutor/ teachers aid. I have been working as a Barista/Bartender for the past 2 years in the London restaurants at Ottolenghi. Through our Workaway experience, I am interested in learning more about gardening, permaculture and cooking with the amazing local produce and cuisines of each destination. I also enjoy surfing, snowboarding, trail running and hiking in my spare time.

Soph is a Paramedic, having worked in London for the last 2 years after graduating from University in Australia. Prior to that, I have 7+ years experience in various baby sitting and nannying jobs which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also love keeping fit through walking and hiking, and have a passion for cooking and am looking forward to trying many different foods and cooking styles along our journey. I love the outdoors & getting involved in gardening.

We are interested in taking part in slow and sustainable living with a diverse group of hosts throughout our workaway experience, but with our thirst for adventure we would love to explore everything your home region has to offer! We believe in fair & hard work and always like to stay busy, however with our free time we love to relax and appreciate all the natural beauty of our local surroundings.

We are looking forward to beginning our travels in Italy. Last year we spent 3 weeks travelling through Sicily and it was a highlight for the both of us. Moving from the coast of Australia to London we have definitely missed the ocean and sunshine and are looking forward to long days spent in the warmth under the sun. We love the Italian landscapes, culture, food, gelato and can't wait to experience more of it!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As mentioned, we have both graduated from university back in Australia and have been working in our professions for several years building experience and knowledge in our respective fields.

We are both fluent in our native English, Soph has learnt basic German and Josh basic Italian in high school. We would love to build on this limited knowledge and hopefully learn to become conversational through a cultural exchange and collaborative relationship with our hosts.

Soph has proven skills in First Aid (Paramedic level), Child & Pet care from various babysitting and housesitting jobs, and general housekeeping/ cleaning and cooking through her experience working in a holiday park for several years.

Josh has proven skills in Timber and Metal building work through various roles working as a furniture maker and metal fabrication shop hand, landscaping and gardening experience, and general repair work gained from renovating his vintage caravan and helping his dad at work/ around the house.

We would love to expand on our diverse range of experiences as individuals and partners, and believe that our skills compliment one another greatly. We are eager and fast learners, willing to try any new skill or experience presented to us and are grateful for any opportunity to learn and grow!
