I spent a week with Rukshan, Nisha and Hemantha. It was an incredible experience. I slept in a really cosy room with plenty of space. During the day, I helped out in the kitchen and learnt how to cook a lot of Sri Lankan food. Another enjoyable task was gardening. The garden was full of pretty flowers and beautiful birds. During the day, the family showed me around. We visited tea fields, lakes and hills. I also mentioned that I am interested in Buddhism. The family therefore organised a meeting with a monk for me. It was an amazing experience. If you want a real cultural exchange, then you should definitely visit a family. The food was amazing, the conversations were good and it was a lot of fun. I am so thankful for everything! I will never forget this week! You are the best! One day I will come back!

Romi and Maxi are both just wonderful -- we really cannot exaggerate how terrific they were to have staying with us, and how amazing it was have them helping us on workaway. We are just finishing up a house renovation project and everything they helped us with they did absolutely perfectly. They can turn their hand to anything you ask them (even some of the less fun jobs!) Moving furniture, deep cleaning, wallpapering and painting. They are super respectful, really nice to be around, extremely hardworking and diligent. We were just sad they couldn't stay longer and hope they will come back! If you get a workaway request from Romi and Maxi - SAY YES!! Thanks again for all your hardwork, Romi and Maxi and wishing you the very best in the future.

I spent a total of 3.5 weeks on Gabriel and Helen's farm from mid-May to early June. I am incredibly grateful and full of love for my hosts, the place and the whole experience. The first thing I noticed was the incredible landscape. Gabriel showed me the entire property (currently in use) upon my arrival. The vision that Helen and Gabriel have for the farm is very exciting and inspiring. I will definitely be back to see how everything develops. We were 3 workawayers most of the time. After 2.5 weeks, a fourth person joined us. We lived on the farm together with Gabriel. Helen currently lives in another house about 2 hours away from the farm. However, Helen was always available for us and came to visit us several times to provide us with work clothes, fine baked goods, books and her homemade jams. Helen and Gabriel both made sure that we wanted for nothing. I really enjoyed the physical labour on the farm. I worked a lot in the greenhouse and weeded. I learnt to drive the quad bike and the tractor. Because of the summer temperatures in the last few weeks, we made sure to start work as early as possible in the morning. This meant that we were usually finished by lunchtime and could spend the rest of the day in our hammocks or by the lake. The farm is located near a lake and a chateau. Both can be reached on foot (approx. 1-1.5 hours). However, as I have a car, we usually drove to a nearby beach (approx. 10-15 min). The farm is not far from Grenoble. At the weekends, Gabriel drove us to the train station by car so that we could take the train to Grenoble. I won't forget my time at the farm in a hurry. Thanks to Helen and Gabriel's hospitality, I felt like I had been welcomed into the family. Another special experience was that I was able to help Helen sell her jewellery and jams at a garden party in Geneva one weekend. Although we spoke English on the farm, I was also able to improve my French! DANKE, MERCI, THANK YOU for creating such a wonderful place! I’m sure, it’s not “Good bye” but “See you later!”

My experience staying with Bianca was amazing! I felt so good there I extended my stay to spend a total of six weeks with her. The accomodations are very comfortable. I had a spacious room with a wood stove for the colder nights. Despite my dietery restrictions (vegan and strict gluten-free), I ate delicious food everyday, and there was always more than needed. There is access to compost toilets, and indoor and outdoor showers. The work felt very rewarding, and I had the chance to learn a lot. Bianca trusted me with carpentry projects, in which I was interested. I felt there was a good balance of guidance/choices of hers and creative freedom for me to develop my skills and thought processes. I also got to work in the garden a good bit, and I felt so lucky to get to learn about that. Bianca is a patient teacher and always seemed happy to show me the different tasks required in the garden or remind me the name of a plant I forgot. Appart from natural constraints, I felt the work was also very flexible. Bianca let me decide my schedule, and offered me to choose between different tasks. My stay with Bianca was also such a rich cultural experience. From hiking a via ferrata through gorgeous landscapes, to participating in community events, going to a film festival, and crawling through the roof of an ancient church, I got the chance to discover a new facet of Romania every week. Bianca has been so gracious to guide me through this wonderful learning experience, even sharing me her own stories of the historical events that marked her country. The day-to-day life also filled me with the peace of country-side living; abiding to the natural cycles, contemplating the nature, and exchanging dishes and drinks with the lovely neighbour. I must also mention how blessed I felt to learn about plants and wildlife. Bianca can name you every single weed on her land. She can show you how to harvest what plant when, and how to process it into syrups, teas, soups, etc. In general, I felt so good with Bianca! She is funny, skilled in a hundred ways, and has a contagious curiosity about any subject I can think of. She is a great communicator, and I felt comfortable and safe sharing how I felt in any time. But mostly, I felt the love in all of her words and actions, and for that I am so grateful. I cannot reccomend her more warmly <3

Helio and Alice stayed with us for two weeks, and it was a real pleasure to host them. From the moment they arrived, they brought a calm, positive energy that made them such a joy to have around. They are both incredibly kind, respectful, and easygoing. We enjoyed their friendly company and truly appreciated how well they adapted to our lifestyle. They were also very tidy and clean, always taking care of their space and contributing to a peaceful and organized atmosphere in the home. What stood out most was their warmth and genuine spirit. Whether sharing stories or helping with daily routines, they were always thoughtful and engaging. During their stay, they also supported our eco farm project by helping with an online fundraising campaign. While the outcome was modest, we are truly thankful for the effort and time they gave to our cause. Every little bit makes a difference, and their willingness to help meant a lot to us. We’re grateful for the experience of hosting them and would happily welcome them back anytime. Wishing you both all the best on your next adventures, Helio and Alice!

I enjoyed my time at the horse ranch. Its a unique experience to get an understanding of rural living. The basic lifestyle thought me what is important in life. I enjoyed  working with horses more then expected. Learning to ride them was amazing! The scenery is beautiful. I definitely recommend to go for an early walk in the mountains. Daria is a lovely women and I admire her energetic, positive energy. She always tried to make you comfortable and happy. We had good talks about the world.  Bruhan, Hasan and the other men put effort to make me feel home despite English is difficult for them. WorkAway is so much more than traveling or cultural exchange, it teaches you valuable lessons. That is what I experience here.

Era mi primera experiencia de trabajo fuera de casa y no me lo podría haber pasado mejor. Desde el principio me llevé muy bien con Rose, una persona amable, acogedora y muy servicial con la que siempre era fácil encontrar temas de conversación, lo que hizo que mi estancia allí fuera divertida y me sintiera como en casa. El lugar es magnífico, una urbanización muy segura y bien cuidada, rodeada de un pinar con un lago artificial que hace que el lugar sea mágico y perfecto para sentirse inmerso en la naturaleza, pero con la posibilidad de llegar fácilmente, gracias también a la disposición de Rose para acompañarme y recogerme en la parada de autobús, incluso a Madrid, que está muy cerca, donde pasé la mayor parte de mis fines de semana descubriendo una ciudad preciosa. El trabajo ha sido siempre una buena mezcla de compromiso y ligereza y he aprendido a hacer muchas cosas nuevas. Recomiendo encarecidamente este workaway a todo el mundo y yo mismo espero volver pronto! Mis mejores deseos para Rose, a quien le deseo todo lo mejor por la persona que fue durante mi estancia allí y que contribuyó a que mi primera experiencia fuera tan positiva, divertida y acogedora.

Esta es una valoración para Diego Enrique y Maria del Carmen, también conocidos como "Dieguito the beast" y "Mery Pampín", quienes tuvimos la suerte de acoger por algo más de 2 meses. Dieguito the beast, dió luz a nuestro hogar al poner una ventana donde antes había una puerta (que con el tiempo quedó inutilizada), también hizo trabajos de mantenimiento en las 2 caras de la casa que les da más el sol (la sureste y suroeste), reparó humedades en la casa de la playa donde descubrió que tenemos un problema de oxidación en la estructura (lo cual nos mató pero era necesario saber), hizo una rampita cuqui de piedras, cortó palets y ramas que guardamos como combustible para el invierno, pasó la desbrozadora cerca de casa, desatascó la ducha, hizo de monstruo para que las pequeñas se lo pasaran bien, y seguro que alguna tarea más que ahora mismo se nos escapa. Mery Pampín es una fusión entre Mary Poppins y Luli Pampín. Su ayuda por la tarde ha sido esencial, las peques no iban a buscar a la mamá como ha ocurrido en ocasiones anteriores, Mery captaba toda la atención, sabía como entretenerlas y estaban encantadas... jugando al escondite, dando paseos, saltando y bailando, inventando cancione... las niñas la adoran, nunca se aburrían y la echan mucho de menos. Me llena el corazón ver cómo Lluna pregunta por Mery todas las tardes en lugar de preguntar por Peppa pig jaja. Se nota que tiene una conexión especial con los peques y mucha mucha paciencia, y eso es de agradecer, ni yo (Lara) tengo tanta jaja. Me ha encantado aprender recetas con Mery, porque me encanta cocinar. Tener a Mery en casa para mí, ha sido algo especial, ha sido tener una amiga que hace tiempo necesitaba, tener un apoyo emocional, sabe escuchar y hacerte sentir acompañada. Juntos también ayudaron a ordenar un poco entre todo el caos, y tareas del hogar como cocinar, fregar platos, hacer la bugada, y limpiar la casa. Culturalmente también fue muy interesante porque aprendimos más argentino que con nuestra cuñada Bárbara, que se supone que es argentina aunque no toma mate: Dale = Vale Remera = Camiseta Parlante = Altavoz Pileta = Piscina Chancho = Cerdo Porotos = Garbanzos Zapallo = Calabaza Choclo = Maíz Pochoclos = Palomitas de maíz Plomero = Fontanero Guita, plata, luca, un palo, etc. Ojalá puedan volver a visitarnos o podamos ir a verlos de nuevo al hogar que construyan que seguro será especial.

Hana was a fantastic volunteer, She really made a special connection with our family and the kids at the school. The kids continued to ask where you were even after you left. Their teaching was excellent and we are always here when you want to return. Seeing them having a good time at our school was so good. Thank you for your time helping us and our doors are always open to having you back. Best of luck for the future.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay with Marleen, Valentin, and little inquisitive Obi. They were very attentive and accommodating, and it was great to feel like a part of their family during my visit. I really enjoyed helping Valentin on the house, and getting new experiences on a build site. He was also very gracious to accommodate my request to see the various megaliths that populate the region. It was also a pleasure to be in the company of Marleen. Our discussions over beer and cider were very enjoyable. I feel I have made some new friends who I will definitely visit again.

Staying with Beatrice was an unbelievable experience for me and culminated why I joined Workaway. It was everything you could hope for in a truly Italian experience. Beatrice was simply THE BEST. I was part of her life from day one when we went into Brescia and enjoyed a lovely evening of opera. Wow what an experience. She included me in all her activities, went out on excursions, she cooks the most delicious meals and makes certain you have everything you need. Her son Frederico was so kind and I got to meet her daughter too and extended family which was truly special. It is easy to go on day excursions from her place. Short walk to bus stop into Brescia and from there you catch the trains, I did quite a lot and loved them all. Brescia itself is totally underrated - this city has so much to offer and I was very sad to leave Beatrice. I would have stayed longer if I could. Delightful family, Beatrice is the best and the location superb. I miss it all already!!!!

Noeli is an exceptional workawayer — positive, polite, strong and incredibly hard-working. She takes initiative, cleans and organizes without being asked, and works with impressive speed and skill. She built beautiful bamboo arches for our vines, and when she noticed an old, awkward staircase blocking the way, she didn’t hesitate to close it off and build a new, better one herself — something no one else had even noticed! Highly experienced in gardening, animal care and creative projects, she’s independent, resourceful, a great cook, and deeply connected with nature. We loved having her with us and warmly recommend her to any host.

Sarndra immediately made us feel welcome! We really enjoyed the stay including the beautiful and huge garden and the daily dinner conversations. Sarndra is a wonderful person. The work is hard but very rewarding. Definitely recommend staying here.

I completely forgot to leave a review—so sorry for the delay! I highly recommend staying with this family through Workaway, especially if you love children or want to experience skiing in Canada. I stayed with them for four weeks, and during that time, I was truly spoiled. My main tasks included cleaning the house, helping with the garden, and playing with their daughter (which didn’t even feel like work!). All of the tasks were simple and clearly explained. They also provided all the tools I needed to complete my work comfortably and efficiently. I was given a huge basement room—almost too spacious—with my own private bathroom and toilet. As for food, I was allowed to eat anything from the fridge whenever I wanted. They also invited me to all of their family events if I wished to join, and whenever I wanted to go out on my own, they kindly offered to drive me to the nearest airport. Their daughter is absolutely adorable—we often played and ran around the house together. Their dog and cat were also super smart and very cute. I really miss this family. It honestly feels like I’ve gained a second family in Canada.

Clara and Noémie stayed two weeks with us in early June and accomplished amazingly much during that time! They learned quickly to take care of the animals on daily basis. We really appreciated the reliability, responsibility, carefulness and own initiative in everything this hard-working duo undertook, whether planting chili and tomatoes, mocking animal sheds, making electric fence, cleaning and reinstalling roof tiles or any of the various tasks they got into. They were physically strong and sportive, which inevitably also helped in the farm work. Clara and Noémie were calm and tidy, and always ready to set and clear the table, to load and unload the dishwasher etc. As to their free time, they were brave enough to swim in the cold lake water and were keen to visit nearby places of interests. They were unnecessarily worried about their English skills, since they coped just great with the language! Unfortunately it was relatively chilly and rainy during their stay, but they endured the weather conditions without any complaints. Wishing them all the best in their studies!

Accurate description of workaway at Gerrard’s and Karen’s place would be: time filled with great company, laughter and friendship. From the first day we were welcomed and made feel like we were at home. Gerrard and Karen are warm and caring couple and their pets are super friendly and cuddly. Location is a great place at the central Italy, well connected by roads and trains and with amazing landscapes. We had plenty of time to explore both Umbria and Tuscany after working and on our days off. Our tasks were clearly explained and we were never overwhelmed by it. Our two weeks passed by too quickly and we would gladly return! We have gained great memories and even greater friendship! Thank you Gerrard and Karen!

This place exceeded my expectations of a work away experience! I knew there would be some level of exploration, but was pleasantly surprised by the continuous expeditions. It was a privilege to be part of a dynamic, adventurous and professional team. Everyday, I had the opportunity to learn about the local culture and lives of the kind people that live in Gopeng. I had a variety of tasks around the camp including landscaping, property maintenance and participating within the nature educational programs. Sometimes, the assignment instructions were a bit vague, but it provides an opportunity to take initiative for yourself. There was no shortage of food, I was well fed - 3 FULL meals a day! Overall, the work they do at here is important and I believe in their mission! Thank you so much for the best experience! Hope to come back soon! Shawn

Leonie and Mark are simply wonderful. I was warmly welcomed and felt right at home. Mark is an excellent cook. They are both lovely, funny, and absolutely charming. I've only just left, and I already can't wait to go back to their place! Their housemate Robyn is also sweet and charming. Leonie and Mark’s farm is a haven of peace — the perfect place to feel like part of a family when you're far from home.

Mariano is a very active, hard working, respectful workaway. A very friendly personality, well educated and skilled in many things. You just couldn't ask for a better workaway. Mariano is welcome to come back anytime.
