I stayed with Greg and Ellie for 1 month in May, and it was a beautiful experience! Greg and Ellie are very welcoming hosts, always making sure we feel good, and we appreciate what we are doing. When I was there, we were five volunteers. We had very nice discussions together, always amazing lunches thanks to Ellie's cooking. We all had our own (very comfortable) bedroom, and there is also a nice swimming pool, perfect after a morning of work in the campo. When it started to be too warm, Ellie and Greg tried to find us a job under the shade as much as possible. About the job, we work just in the morning with a nice and tasty break in between. Ellie and Greg are always working with us. The job varies from picking avocados and oranges to mulching and mowing... There is a lot to do outside in the campo. Ellie and Greg pay attention to our preferences to make sure everyone enjoys their job. Overall, it was a beautiful experience, with lovely people who really care about you! I would definitely recommend it, and I'd love to go back!

Peter and Fanny are wonderful and very welcoming people, and so goes for everyone I met during my stay. I was with them a bit over 2 weeks and enjoyed every part of it. my work wasn't hard, mostly did a few tasks around the garden and maybe a little cleaning. From playing cards to complaining about the db to sailing, I only have good memories from this place and hope I can visit again in the future.

Allison was an absolute joy to host for the month. She is hardworking, efficient, and incredibly adaptable. From the very start, she brought a calm, capable energy to my home and took excellent care of my 77 chickens with attention and love. She’s a thoughtful, kind individual who truly goes above and beyond. I would be delighted to welcome her back anytime!

Let me start by saying that you will hardly find a better host than Marco! It was a wonderful experience in Switzerland and we did many things, always having fun: gardening, repainting walls, digging to make a floor. Marco is very precise, helpful and patient in explaining how to do a certain job. I strongly recommend Monte Cima to all mountain lovers!

Having Maria staying with my daughter and I was a blessing! I can only stress what others have written about her cooking, very good! And overall she is kind, very attentionate to what is needed and to the mood in the room, and adjusted to us and our schedule, which with a baby is not too flexible. She has been great with my daughter, helped with everything around the house and conversations were very interesting. She's also super independant and interested in many things, went visiting a lot, allowing for some time apart, which in a rather small flat helps cohabitation in my opinion. Overall Maria made my life so much easier while she was here. I'm very grateful.

Luzie is a wonderful person who is motivated to help in all things, big or small. She learned new skills and enjoyed all the activities, and all weather conditions.... Luzie is one of those people who bring the team together, with a warm smile and a curious mind. She has plenty of initiative and good ideas.... Although she is small in stature, she is BIG on making sure things get done! We loved having her with us, on the field, in the greenhouse, on the tractor, selling (and tasting) jams and jewelry, and playing with the cats! (by some miracle, she never had an allergic reaction to any of our cats!) Don't be fooled: she looks demure and quiet, but is full of spirit and humor! We are so so so very lucky to have hosted Luzie! She is part of our family now! And the best thing? We hope she made friends for life during her stay with the other workawayers! Ah yes, dear Luzie, feel free to send us your papa for a few weeks! I think he will enjoy the experience too!

András is a trustworthy, kind, helpful, and physically strong volunteer. We could always rely on him to care for the animals and carry out tasks responsibly. Even when certain jobs were new to him, he didn’t hesitate to ask questions and always kept us updated, especially when a supervisor wasn’t present. Without any doubt, I can highly recommend him to any future host. He is in good physical shape and mentally fit, making him a great support for any host looking for reliable, solution-oriented helpers. He respects the space of others and enjoys spending his free time doing sports such as hiking and cycling. We were very happy to host him — he contributed in all areas, from animal care and health checks to more hands-on tasks like building fence lines and handling various duties around the sanctuary that required a lots of walking and stamina. A hard-working young man with a good heart.

Having Stefanie staying with us was a great experience. She was always happy, whether working, relaxing or going off hiking and exploring. Very helpful and open to learning any new skill, sensitive to what was going on around her, and very independent. We had many interesting and stimulating conversations, sharing ideas and hearing of Stefanie's many travel adventures. She is a great addition to any situation.

If you're looking for a quiet place with pleasant people, if you're a nature and animal lover (and maybe you also like to dance), then this is the right experience for you! Christian and Isabella are really nice and kind people, they're hospitable and will help you to find your way in Aigen- Schlägl and other cities in Austria. What we did: in addition to the routine household chores, we did gardening, repaired the fence, fixed the gravel driveway, cleaned the river banks. I highly recommend Christian and Isabella as hosts if you want to discover Austrian culture!

We so enjoyed having Cristophe stay with us. Where to start? He is a world traveller and is very interesting and cultured. Hearing about his experiences was very enriching and inspiring. He is also VERY hardworking and was always willing to help with anything going on in the house, big or small. He has great pro-active attitude and brought a very calm, positive energy to our house. He is polite, self sufficient and very good company. He was very loving towards our animals and, in his discreet and calm way, showed a lot of caring and tenderness towards us as a family. He is also a great cook and treated us to some authentic French cuisine whilst he was with us... and I could go on! Suffice to say it was an absolute gift to share time and space with him. I would not hesitate to invite him back into our home or to recommend him to someone else.

Arianna stayed by us for 1 month and it was a real pleasure. She is a very caring young lady with many skills and will to make a useful contribution. Hard working, not afraid to get her hands dirty. She helped with many tasks during her stay: cleaning, house-keeping, painting, animal care. She is very energetic and always in good mood, polite and smiling. Thank you Arianna for your help and a nice time together, we miss you and you are always welcome to come back.

It was our first experience in Workaway and was incredible! Highly recommended, if you want to be in a natural place and enjoy with company, this is your spot. We enjoyed so much staying at Ollie’s home, it was the perfect time for relax, share different cooking with him, his awesome family and the other guests and learn a lot about native trees.

Petra and Adrian are incredible hosts! They're patient, kind, and take the time to get to know you, making you feel right at home. From delicious evening meals to fun TV nights, pizza-making, and braaing (barbecue) outside, they've thought of everything. The sauna sessions and snack-filled car rides are the perfect touches. What really stood out was how effortlessly their place felt like home - I didn't feel homesick for a second! Their little slice of paradise is truly just that - a haven of peace and beauty .From serene walks in the Forest to gazing up at the stars before bed .It felt so idyllic. Also loved learning about dog sledding and experiencing a summer version with a quad ride pulled by the dogs - it was such a unique and unforgettable experience. But what was even more special was the bond I formed with the animals, saying goodbye to them to move on to the next host was emotional, to say the least. The lovable dogs and therapeutic horse encounters truly stole my heart. Thanks, Adrian and Petra! My first Workaway experience was amazing thanks to you both. You made me feel like family - I'll never forget it!

I spent a week in this beautiful and fantastic place. My host, Keshab, welcomed me warmly and did his best to ensure my stay was pleasant. I was given a small house to sleep and relax in, surrounded by beautiful nature and a garden. Freshly prepared meals were provided to me three times a day. I helped him with washing dishes, serving his guests, and a few other small tasks. In addition to long workdays, I had plenty of time to meditate, do yoga, or simply relax. The Wi-Fi is great, so if you want to be online, this place offers a great mix: a beautiful, quiet space, good food, and a good mood. Keshab is a fantastic host. Thank you for everything ❤️

Morgane and Adrian have been delightful and helpful in their 10 day stay. In particular, walking, training and keeping Marshall , my English Pointer, occupied, which is the big part of my meeting Workawayers. They are mature and helpful and able. Morgane’s English is impeccable, even coming through with a Kiwi accent. Adrian has kept my lawns and garden beautifully. They have both dealt with everyday tasks happily and well. Am very happy to recommend them .

What a wonderful two weeks we had with Lorraine, Arnie, Ben and Sid. Lorraine and Arnie are two wonderful people who welcomed us warmly and we immediately felt welcome and laughed a lot together. Ben is the son and together we rocked the online world by playing video games or jumping on the trampoline. I immediately felt younger and had a lot of fun. The four-legged friend is called Sid and is the happiest and sweetest dog in the world. We had the pleasure of looking after him and would have loved to adopt him. We miss everyone so much and it really was a great time. The house is gorgeous and you feel like you are on holiday, surrounded by nature. Our job was to help Arnie tidy up his antiques in one of his storage rooms, label them and get them ready for sale. He was very grateful and very happy to have this burden off his shoulders. Another task was to build an electric fence for his cows. At first we were not very skilful, but once we understood how to do it, we were able to master it and now the cows are placed happily in their new pasture/paddock, right in front of the house, while Sid once again watches the sunset. After all our working days, Lorraine cooked lunch and dinner for us. She really is a talented cook and we never went to bed hungry. Have I already mentioned the beach house... Indescribably beautiful and the complete opposite to the farmhouse. Definitely worth visiting if you are lucky enough to get invited. Lorraine, Arnie, Ben and Sid: Thank you so much for this incredibly wonderful time with you. We wish you all the best and lots of fun on your journey. We hope our paths will cross again. We also hope that the fence is still up today and that the cows are not already in the house. Thank you very much. We miss the time with you and always look forward to hearing from you. Big hugs from Lau & Marv

Claire and Caleb stayed with us for two weeks, and we truly enjoyed having them around. They’re hardworking, attentive, and always ready to help – whether it’s with everyday chores or bigger projects. At the same time, they bring humor, curiosity, and great conversations into the house. You can learn a lot from them – about history, culture, and perspectives on the world. They worked both inside and outside: gardening, cleaning, fixing things, sewing a sunshade, and even doing heavy forestry work. One thing that really stood out: once you explain a task or problem, they fully understand it and often come up with their own smart and independent solutions. Anyone who gets to host these two is in for a great experience. Claire and Caleb – we hope to see you again soon. And next time, we expect a demo of all the creative ways you’ve learned to open a beer! 🍻 All the best, and thank you for everything!

We only stayed for one week with John & Glenda as we were travelling up north. If we had more time we would have loved to stayed longer and extended no doubts. You will learn a lot about the native Bush land, plants, trees, herbs and local towns like Mullumbimby or Byron Bay as John & Glenda can tell you a lot and teach you so much about where they live and nutrition. We enjoyed drying the leaves of their nusturtion plants, basil leaves and have it in tea or even made pesto out of it, yuuummm. John & Glenda are great cooks and bakers. It was particularly interesting to learn about the gluten free bread. Their property is located on a hill with incredible views and we were very lucky being hosted at this magical place, in the super cozy cottage/annexe to the main house with amazing views, and a spacious outdoor kitchen. We went grocery shopping at the beginning of our stay and Glenda made sure we have anything and everything we need to prepare nice meals throughout our stay. So caring and loving, patient and happy people in everything they do. We appreciate they shared their time, wisdom and knowledge with us. It was so great working in the orchard pruning trees, you can find mandarines, lemons, avocados, and even a chocolate pudding tree. It was like living in garden eden. Marvin even saw his first snake since we arrived in Australia. We cleaned the windows in the living room, got to weed in the herb garden, planted more beetroot, making some plants ready for winter, mixing up more soil, harvested beans, helped to chop some trees and remote trunks that had fallen after the cyclone. John & Glenda took us to the Mullumbimby market where we could find local products, listen to great live music and see what a social place it is, where community is very important. John is a skilled musician and we enjoyed our session with a Cajon, a guitar, shakers and singing while sitting by the fire. Jacob the son and his partner Anne are just as sweet, we shared a family dinner, went out to a pub together another night and enjoyed the time with fun people in our age just as much as the Yoga session in the morning where we met other community members of Ohana, we were so lucky being able to join a session the first morning after arriving at Glenda & John's. One other morning we made our way down to Byron before working and went for a lovely beach walk, John even went for a swim. What an energizing start into the day. Other afternoons we checked out the property and walked the fire trail or walked the hill up and down just for a nice long walk/workout. We appreciated having such beautiful nature just in front of the door and it was great to live in the green lush forest. It was literally like living in a postcard. The last evening we played grandma's game, a cards game which was so much fun as well. We could go on and on with dwelling in thoughts of this amazing week and already miss this and hope to make our way back down soon just to spend more quality time with John & Glenda. John & Glenda: It has been an absolute pleasure living with you. Thank for sharing your travel stories, your time, place and work with us, we enjoyed this experience truly and to full extend. We hope to stay in touch and keep each other posted what's going on in our lives. Wishing you lovely workaway experiences meanwhile and all the best for the upcoming months. Sending big hugs over to Ohana, Huon & both of you. 🤗❤️ Lau & Marv

From Noelle and Graham June 2025 Katrin and Joshua were marvellous to work with;  their help on our modest, rural, landscaped estate has been absolutely invaluable. They could turn their hand to any chore and were very good company as well. They handled power tools proficiently and with care and were tidy finishers. Their capable help was very much appreciated. Katrin and Joshua are intelligent, energetic, willingly capable and they work quickly and efficiently. We have enjoyed hosting them for three winter weeks. We are very happy to thoroughly recommend them to other good hosts. We will have a warm welcome ready if they come again to New Zealand
