We spent two weeks (or maybe even more!) working at the hostel and the experience was really nice :) We stayed there in low season so the city itself was very calm - which was great to slow down and take the time to get to know the people around us. The location is perfect and so are the activities that the hostel puts together. We would definitely return!

Me and my dog Simba spent about 2 weeks with Maaika and her lovely dogs. The finca is beautiful and well equipped. The accommodation is perfect for nature lovers. We worked a lot in the garden and always had nice conversations. If I am in the area, we will definitely come back again.

Katherina was part of our family for 6 days. It was an enriching experience having her with us. My sons really enjoyed having her around and she was really helpful, especially when I had to work and she was looking after my boys. She even asked to help with the house work, she helped in the garden and with washing. She is a very clean and keeps the place in order. During the time we spent together she shared with us very interesting experiences from her travels, her hikings, her life in Vancouver as a doughter of an artist and her profession as specialized in brain recovery therapy. She is a very serious and reliable person. A thing we'll always remember is how she tought us prepare and drink mate in the traditional Argentianian way and the delicious carrot salad she prepared. What we also loved is that she organized her outdoor or sports acivity by herself, she managed in moving around the area very well, independently, since I didn t have the possibiliy to take her around because of work. She even had time to read a novel while she was here. I WAS AMAZED by all she could do in such a short time. I can say I learnt a lot from her. It was an honour to have her with us. Thank you Katherina

It's nice to meet Zhanna, Denis and Marina. And other friends I learned a lot about planting and construction here. Every time I look up after work, the beautiful scenery always surprises me for a while, and it's all worth it. My favorite is tea time! And the rest time is blowing the wind and looking at the snow-capped mountains. Thanks for this opportunity to meet you, provide help, and enjoy the food. Unfortunately,I had originally planned to stay for more than 2 weeks but I only stayed for 10 days because I had to rush to Hong Kong to deal with other things. I will meet you again, good luck everyone!

Joy spent a month at our school actively participating in our English lessons and engaging in conversations and freetime activities with our students. He has a chasrismatic personality which makes it easy for anyone to connect with him, thus he quickly became a favorite among both staff and students. He was always affectionate, gentle and kind with the children, which created an emotionanlly safe environment for them to communicate with him in English. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions to our community, and sincerely hope to welcome him back in the future.

I really enjoyed my stay at Peggy Andreas& Dimitra, I learnt so many things and they really cared about me! We had interesting conversations, shared a lot about our lifes, they were and are still very inspiring to me ! They shared their knowledge about the chickens & the garden and the land they own, also natural building and childeducation. Andreas thought me to read greek which I really appreciated. The working hours were structured but always open to be rearranged. The work was sometimes physically demanding, but they made sure there is a mix with lighter work. Both are really kind, caring and sweet people! They included me in their life and made sure I was always comfortable. As a female solo traveler I felt very safe. They prepared really delicious food for me and invited me in their home. The weeks after I told my friend a lot about the moments on the homestay and we could use knowledge about berries to nourish ourselves haha. Thank you very much & all the best !

I stayed with Giulia, Denis, and Matteo for 2 weeks during March this year. I had a wonderful time, they welcomed me from day one, and it was such a beautiful place to stay. The help I did was mainly around the house, some cleaning, and some cooking. It was never too much, and everyone was very grateful for what I did, which made me feel very appreciated :) In my free time, I explored the island a bit. The spot in Port de Pollença is perfect for adventuring of any kind: I went swimming (it's really close to the sea), hiking, visiting different towns that are close by (it is very easy to get around by bus), and of course, I went cycling !! All together, I discovered my passion for cycling on this trip, saw beautiful landscapes, and was appreciated for my help, surrounded by a very kind family, so I highly recommend visiting them 🌻 Thank you, Giulia, Denis, and Matteo 💐 Hopefully we'll meet again someday - Nele :)

Margaret has kindly welcomed us last minute, and has been a joy! She was dynamic and helpful, I think we helped her as much as she helped us 😁 She has been a great host, for example although we had different eating habits we could see how much effort she put into accommodating us. Thanks Margaret, we can't wait to see what future holds for you and the lovely teenager Marshall, whom we loved very much!

This was my first workaway experience and Alejandra really made it an unforgettable one! I had a great time with her as she is very open and welcoming. She is interested in the volunteers and their cultures while gladly sharing her own. The tips she gave me for what to visit on the island were great. So was the food, she took care of most meals with fresh and natural ingredients. Before coming I spoke limited Spanish, but this was not an issue as she spoke very clearly and slowly. Lastly regarding the work load: it was very doable. I worked mornings, but the exact schedule is discussable which allowed for a lot of flexibility. Overall, highly recommend!

Having the privilege of being invited to Michaela’s and John’s home was such a fantastic and invaluable experience. The volunteer work matched my skillset and experience, and all the instructions were very clearly communicated. The food was so fresh with incredible home-cooked meals - some of the best food i’ve eaten in my European travels! The Château is in a really nice part of the countryside with gorgeous horses and very cute dogs. Also a pool which is very fun! Thanks to Michela and John’s generosity, I was able to enjoy some local French life too such as hiking, visiting markets, different foods (especially the best cheeses you will ever try!) and local french restaurants. Above all this, the best part was the little community they’ve created. Michaela and John are so open and warm, and it really shows in the way everyone comes together — eating, chatting, lots of laughing, sharing many stories, and just enjoying each others’ company. To me, this is the value of Workaway, and I feel so lucky I came across John and Michela - I miss it all already. I’m really grateful for the time I had and highly recommend.

One of the most beautiful and meaningful experiences of my life. Markus is an inspiring host always thinking about what’s best for the school and caring deeply for volunteers. Together, we began shaping a football team to compete with other schools, watching the kids grow in teamwork and confidence was unforgettable. I also taught a sports class for the Pre-GED and GED students, focusing on the core values and fundamentals of physical education. Markus & I evenly start a Badminton Club and a Chess Club too, Markus was always open to fresh ideas that helped kids grow beyond the classroom. One of the highlights was helping improve the computer class. We made it more interactive and fun adding educational games and I add platforms like Scratch, Starfall, and ABCya, so the kids could learn while playing. Seeing their excitement and curiosity grow day by day was truly special. Teacher Thunder was so kind and supportive, and his brother and I became close friends building shades during the rain. The students—especially in the GED and Pre-GED classes were incredibly bright, fluent in English & full of life. I formed real connections with them, as well as with the local Burmese teachers who showed deep responsibility and dedication in teaching with passion, even in limited conditions. This is more than just a school it’s a place full of heart, resilience, and dreams. I feel lucky to have lived it, not just visited it. I’ll carry this experience with me forever.

We had a wonderful time with Lola. She was a great help in the garden with weeding, planting, and harvesting. She also helped build the chicken coop—no challenge is too big for her. Always cheerful and ready to try something new. Our evenings were filled with interesting conversations and fun games. You're always welcome whenever you're in the area.

This was my first workaway trip and it may have spoiled me...my stay at Rob's was exquisite. I'm not sure I can express what a sweet adventure this was both figuratively and literally. I arrived in time for mango season and my goodness, it was raining mangoes hallelujah in the backyard for my first two weeks. I selflessly committed to consuming a mango lassi daily in order to help deal the overage of fruit ;). Great location, just up the hill from town and in a between a Hoopii waterfalls and the beach, all accessible by foot, bike or bus. Rob is a gracious host who is beyond generous with his provisions and knowledge of the island, often providing tips on how best to enjoy various excursions. He's both kind and considerate, gave me lots of privacy which made for an extremely comfortable stay. I had ample tools and time to independently complete several projects which included helping to collect and process fruit, transferring soil into terraced raised beds, and painting a wooden fence a dreamy shade of turquoise to match the rare blue jade plant found on premises. All of these tasks were pleasant and manageable but the highlight project was an opportunity to create a giant whale mosaic from broken tiles, dishes, and stones he had collected. This was such a fun and beautifully challenging experience. What an honor to be asked to adorn the property in this way, I'm so grateful to have been able to leave something behind. Mahalo nui loa!

It is a wonderful hostel in the middle of Mutare, hidden away like a little secret garden. I wasn’t sure how long I would be here, but ended up staying 3 months. There is lots to do and the work is varied…helping guests, cooking and preparing meals, cleaning and preparing rooms, managing bookings, helping to organise events and most importantly walking Sasha 😊 There are also lots of beautiful places to visit in the area. Christa, Tawanda, Unity and Oliver are a lovely team that have created a beautiful hostel and I would recommend it to anyone looking to experience a workaway.

Marcos helped us with our mission to tackle the plastic waste problem at the Learning Center in Bali. He is the kindest, funniest, and most humble person we have had the pleasure of having here as a volunteer. He helped us with daily tasks such as collecting and sorting plastic waste. He also helped us process plastic waste into fuel oil, an alternative energy source. With his background in engineering, we discussed technical things and received advice on how to upgrade our pyrolysis machine. We were very happy to have him as part of the family. We hope to see you again when you're in Bali! xx
