Alexa and Hugo are two very special people. We just hosted them for a week last year and a month this year. It was sad to see the leave. They tackled projects and always went over and above what we asked of them. We had a new batch of baby bunnies while they were here and they fell in love with them. The last picture I took they were holding the
… read more fat, furry adorable babies that just opened their eyes 2 days ago. Alexa was so amazed at how fast they grow daily. Hugo played guitar and sang. They went with us to nursing homes to entertain and also to the Boones Creek Opry and Museum. They loved having him sing in French. We will miss them and hope to see them again another year. Highly recommend them.
Unfortunately we had only a week with Sandra and Darrell but... such a week !
We helped to feed animals, create gardens, cook... Each time was a good moment. We felt like at home and they were always kind and considerate with us. We shared music time, discussion, prayers, time with people of church, family, neighbours, ...

Ialana was so sweet. DB always mentions her million-dollar smile. She was so talented in music and learned to play a mandolin and bass while here.She went to nursing homes with us to entertain residents. She chirped like a little bird while we worked in the garden and helped dig out the new side garden with me. We had to use the translator on the

It was a blessing to have a son in law here that spoke Portuguese, and we would reach out to him at times, they loved communicating with each other as he had grown up in Brazil. All in all, we loved having Ialana here and sharing our lives with her for a while. Would recommend her as a workaway.

Shawn and Dora were both amazing. They would tackle anything and put their heart into it. Dora and I got to spend some special times in the kitchen preparing meals and she would whistle and sing. It was as if a little bird had flown into my life. Wished they could have stayed longer. Very precious couple and fun to be with. Recommend them highly!
We had an amazing time staying here with Sandra and DB and meeting some more of their clan. This was our first workaway in the US and we couldn't have picked a better one. Sandra and DB are wonderful people, amazing hosts that treat you like family and are full of knowledge to share. We were sad that this happened to be one of our shortest

Tasks included weeding and harvesting while learning about plant and natural remedies, clearing away brush, daily chores with the animals, building gates, mucking stalls; pretty much all that you'd expect on a property like this. As said, an amazing time, a wonderful workaway and we cannot wait to come back for another visit. If you're exploring or wanting to explore central Appalachia and NE Tennessee, want to learn about all types of herbs, plants and natural remedies and experience life on a permaculture homestead, then check their availability and pray its green!Feedback

We enjoyed having Yasiel with us. He was a good worker, friendly, and fun. He helped disassemble an old greenhouse, weed-eated, Helped dig weeds out around young trees and prune fig trees. He even picked out a cuban recipe from a library book and helped make it....a new experience for him. I recommend him highly and wish he had time to stay longer

I stayed with Sandra and DB for 3 months. I was only intending to stay for @ a month, but the COVID interrupted other Workaway experiences. They were fine with the length of stay. I had a private apartment in the back of the house in which I could seek solitude after a hard day of work on the farm. Great internet which I appreciated!

DB is a unique person who will make you laugh. He loves children and his extended family with all his heart. I loved going to his July 4th performance, where he played music with 8 other men...
To volunteer here, you will need to be self-motivated. You won’t receive a lot of direction unless you are persistent in asking how you can be used. I generally worked 4-4 1/2 hrs./day, which was very fair. I had the weekends to myself.

Melissa is a very sweet person with an adorable and well behaved 2 year old. She is a fantastic , caring, and extremely energetic mother. I would highly recommend her as a child care/ teacher for little ones. It has been a real blessing to us to have her on our farm...her little one brings her own sunshine to everyone.

… read more might do something wrong. Sandra is one of the hardest working people I know, and very knowledgeable. She may be a little heasitant to receive new ideas, but I am pretty set in my ways as well, so I don't have any room to talk.
Three healthy and yummy meals were served each day, and most of the produce was grown on their farm. When offering to help clean up after the meal, Sandra insisted on taking care of it herself. The accommodation was very pleasant and comfortable, and they treated me like family.
I was also blessed to attend one of their Bluegrass/Gospel music gigs during my 9 day visit. They are both very tallented musicians! I was pleased to have the opportunity to lend them a helping hand. Sandra and DB are a lovely music rich couple. Provided a warm welcome. They feed us well with great food! Learned a lot about herbs, propagating plants, and organic gardening on their wonderful property. We enjoyed kayaking and seeing the beautiful area. We hope to return next year!
