We stayed in the cabins in San José de Maipo, about and hour bus journey from Santiago. It was a beautiful and peaceful getaway looking after the dogs (Nala & Pepino); cleaning the rental cabin; general garden cleaning; and helping mark school papers. In our spare time there are loads of walks in the area and the local towns in the valley have plenty of activities and food spots to explore. Leo (our host) was amazing and was flexible with times we could work. He helped us practice our Spanish when possible and made us feel at home in the cabin. He gave us clear instructions as to how to get to the area, and helped us out picking us up and dropping us off. Food to prepare breakfast and lunch was provided. He was truly so kind, thank you.

I stayed with Taís, Carson and their son for a week. I really enjoyed their company, they are easy going and we had fun. I was happy to work in the garden, weed, clear paths, harvest radishes and can them, cook some meals and share them with the family, Taís's food was always healthy and very tasty! We went on a day trip on the weekend where a saw a little bit more of Washington State. Their place is in the middle of the lush and green forest which I loved and eating some salmon berries was always a delight! The river was one of my favorite places there. I had a great time with the two border collies and the cats, especially with the little kitten. Thank you for everything!

I had a great experience spending almost a month here. The place is amazing and sometimes it felt like going back to ancient times. The houses made from adobe (earth building) and stones are so beautiful and create a “feel home” sensation. Salvador (the host) is very chill and has a lot of knowledge to share. I also had the chance to meet his mother, Julia, and work a bit together while hosting a silence retreat in the space. I really enjoyed to have nice talks with them and with another volunteer, Laurie, who was a great partner to have things done. I always felt treated with respect and there was no pressure, what made me feel very comfortable. Among other things, I've learned to milk the cow (still learning 😅) and to make cheese. I felt very connected to the dogs and cats (missing them already), went up the mountain to watch the condors and also had the chance to go to the Lipeo thermal waters (wow!). The place is situated in a little village called Rosillas, where there’s not much social options or things to do. So it’s good to set one’s mind to connect with nature, meditate and contemplate the simplicity of life. I’d love to come back someday.

Everything was as described in the profile. You'll have to do easy household chores, giving you enough free time to explore beautiful Richmond and other parts of London. I was happy to learn new things and everybody was incredibly helpful and very kind. We shared some good conversations and got along very well! I also loved my own little room with private bathroom. Getting to central London by train/ bus is fairly easy. Thank you for being so supportive with everything and making me feel comfortable from day one! I genuinely enjoyed staying with you! Hope to see you again soon!

We've just had 10 days helping Cliff and Cath with their huge renovation job just outside the village of Cózar. The work was very reasoable and varied and as mentioned by other workawayers Cliff always made sure to keep it to 3hrs and sometimes less. The accomodation was very private and the kitchen had everything we needed. They are great company and friendly and we got along great and had some laughs together over a wine and a beer......or two. Was nice to spend some time in Spain with a couple of Northeners haha. The village is quiet with a few bars and shops etc and everyone was friendly and our very limited spanish held up enough to get what we wanted. We also should give Maria the resident Mexican a mention who was also very friendly and good company. We'll definitely keep in touch and keen to know how their project develops. Good luck guys. Cecelia and Cristian visited the gardens at Diamond Beach in June of 2025. Unfortunately, their busy travel schedule only allowed for a 2 night stay but what a wonderful stay it was. They were extremely warm, friendly, communicative, courteous, respectful and energetic. Though we only worked one day, removing a large vine and a stand of bananas, their work effort was outstanding and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to any future host. We especially enjoyed our social time with Cecelia and Cristian and we were very sad that we could not spend more time with them. I very much enjoyed showing them around in Forster and Hallidays Point in the short few hours we had available. Without any need to be asked they always cleaned up after breakfast lunch and dinner and cooked a tasty dinner on their last night for us all. They left their room spotless and we wish them all the very best as the head north exploring the Australian East Coast. We hope to see them again one day.

Well Sofia and Matteo are an absolute dreamteam to host. They're lovely, friendly, kind, hardworking and totally dedicated to getting the job done - whatever it was. There literally wasn't anything that we asked them to work on that they couldn't handle. Sofia really impressed me with the hours she spent rendering - mixing cement and carrying it upstairs and actually throwing it on the wall. She worked really hard and the final effect is fantastic. She never complained about the heavy lifting or the relentless pace. Matteo did some great solo work - waterproofing the walls in a future shower and was extremely neat and thorough. Both of them work well individually and also as part of a team. They're also wonderful people to share a living space with - fun, playful, considerate and tidy and we really enjoyed getting to know them and hanging out and playing various games. Oh! Also Sofia has the voice of an angel, so definitely get her to karaoke if you have a chance! Gino is particularly good at hiding stuff, so never play hide and seek with him 😅 best of luck with your travels guys and please come back whenever you want! We miss you!

Sif was a wonderful volunteer – kind, friendly, responsible, and always willing to help. She brought great energy, worked well with others, and made a real contribution to the community. We truly appreciated her presence and would happily welcome her back anytime.

I stayed with Martine and George for a week in June 2025 and was warmly welcomed. I stayed in a fully furnished flat on the ground floor of their house, with a kitchen and private bathroom, which was very handy and allowed me to both work and rest comfortably. In exchange, I helped Martine sand and paint the shutters for a couple of hours each morning. This left me plenty of time to focus on my online work and explore the surrounding area. Reillanne is a beautiful little village in the Luberon. Their house is located just outside the village, so you can walk in easily, which is really convenient. The village has a lively and authentic atmosphere, with lovely cafés and beautiful walks in every direction. It’s a great spot for those who enjoy peaceful countryside and small local markets. Martine and George are super kind and welcoming hosts, and their two dogs, Buzz and Casey, are full of love and always happy to share it. A great experience !

I had an incredible stay with Seijun, he welcomed me into his family as if I were one of them! I loved sharing moments and our different cultures by living and working with him. He introduced me to a whole host of typical Japanese dishes, each as delicious as the next. I highly recommend going to his place. Marin Leray

Hola! Estuve 4 semanas en la fundación. Para mi fue una experiencia muy interesante, diversa y unica. Siempre habian tareas como ayudar distribuir la comida, pintan cosas, ayuda en la huerta, el invernadero, con los gallos, conejos o gatos etc.. Nunca era aburrido. El trabajo con los chicos y niños era interesante también. Es posible para participar en acciones o clases si esta bien por los profes. Todo la gente que trabaja allá son muy amables y la comida es increíble. Si tienes preguntas o dudas Martin el jefe siempre está allá para hablar y resolver cosas y a menudo hay eventos como asados o salir juntos. Recomiendo este lugar de 100 %. Es un hogar y familia afuera tu pais. Gracias.

My husband and I learned so much in the ten days that we were with Daniel. It was so much fun, except for the weather that did not help. It was quite cold at the beginning of November. Thank you!!

Lots to say about Johannes and Deborah, and it's only good things. They were proactive, willing, excited and attentive. They thoroughly followed tasks to completion, with precision and dedication. They were curious, engaged, ready to listen as well as to share. Clean and tidy, we had a wonderful time with them in our house, shared meals and played games, and it never felt like they were not helpful or not pulling their weight. Helped a lot in the house and had perfect common sense. We would have them back anytime, and highly recommend them to anybody. Thanks again :)

I had such a great time at Silvia's. I worked 8 am to 1 pm with a nice long coffee/breakfast break in between. She seemed very appreciative of the work I and the other workawayers did. I met two other very nice workawayers at her place. There's great towns around her area and the Friesian culture is very interesting and she told me places to go and gave me rides. The food was hearty and plentiful. And I had a nice clean bedroom. I hope one day she will visit me in USA.

Tom is a very friendly and polite young man. He worked hard in the garden. We enjoyed the time together with Tom and my adult children in the free time. Tom can come to us anytime again.

Kadence worked diligently on a 3 day hedgecleaning project, among other things. She tackled some thick branches and used a ladder. She made excellent use of her afternoons and dove into my location with great curiosity. I really appreciated this workawayer as someone exploring the world. SHe is welcome back anytime!
