Pietro was a fantastic asset to our family! His cooking was not only fantastic, he adapted to a vegetarian mom, a carnivore dad, and picky kids. He played with all of the kids in the way that best fit them- language classes while cooking together, nerf battles, and horses. He trouble shot minecraft, taught everyone guitar, and went with the flow in so many ways! He was an incredibly respectful guest and tolerated the many animals in our lives. I only wish he had stayed longer! Thank you Pietro!

Staying at the farm was a truly unique experience. It felt like being part of a big family in the heart of the jungle, where everyone shares their work, knowledge, and love for organic rice culture. Working with Captain and Jai was always a pleasure — they lead by example and are always the first to roll up their sleeves when there’s work to be done. The food prepared by Kaka and Chikako was absolutely delicious, full of care, flavor, and heart. At any moment, there’s always someone ready to smile at you and have a little chat — even if, like me, your English isn’t perfect. That warmth makes you feel truly at home. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an experience beyond ordinary time and space. Unique. Highly recommended. I already feel like I have a second family here, and I’ll be back soon to my Malaysian home! 🌾❤️ Special thanks to the other volunteers: Dash, Momo, Hana, Alex, Evelin, Sabina, and Sakuya. Boet and Luna were great volunteers. They were fun to have on the project and we also shared some deep conversations. They helped with the work that was required, and were very sweet for the puppies that they sometimes had to take care of. They were reliable and it was always easy to communicate with them. I don't have fixed hours and it requires some flexibility, which they had. Thanks for staying and I recommend them for another volunteer place.

Elena was a real treat to have around the farm and she settled in very quickly. She was always keen to get started on the day to day tasks and always offered help for extra tasks that needed doing. Despite not having much for child care experience, she was a total gem with our daughter Aubrey. I felt totally comfortable with Aubrey in her care at all times. We shared lots of adventures together and many laughs that are now ongoing inside jokes. Elena was also great with making other work awayers feel at home and helped them settle into a routine very quickly. Elena is up for anything and very easy going with her surroundings. She has an outgoing personality and is sure to very quickly become a great friend. We had a tearful goodbye at the airport and she is always welcome at our house if she comes back to BC. Anyone would be lucky to have Elena stay with them!!!

This was my first solo trip and also my very first Workaway experience, so at first I was a bit nervous — but I’m truly so glad I came here! I was able to take part in lots of Halloween events and spend so much time playing with the kids. It was busy, but it was so much fun that time just flew by! If you love children and dogs, this is definitely the perfect place for you. Katie, their daughter, is absolutely adorable — she’s so mature for a 10-year-old 😂. Honestly, I felt like she was the one taking care of me rather than the other way around! 😂 We especially enjoyed cooking together. She’s incredibly thoughtful and kind, and I do wish I had brought some games or activities to play together. For anyone coming here next, I recommend bringing something fun to share with her — I’m sure she’d love it! Teddy, their dog, is the sweetest and such a comforting presence. 🥹 Aisling is a truly kind person. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel completely welcome. Even though she’s very busy, she always tried to take me out when I had free time — thank you so much for that.🥲🙏 We went on lots of walks with Teddy, and I really enjoyed our conversations along the way. She’s so fun to be around, always laughing and making everyone smile.🫶 My tasks mainly included tidying up the house and spending time with the kids, and honestly, it never felt like work — it was just pure joy. On my days off, I could easily visit Dublin, which is less than an hour away. It was an amazing week, and I can’t thank you enough for everything. Let’s meet again someday! And please message me if you ever come to Japan! 🇯🇵💕

We've been working at Clare's place for two weeks. Clare, Agnes, Orlando and Pippie have been really welcoming with us. We felt home since the first minute! Work was relatively easy and Clare was very flexible and accommodating with our needs. We mostly took care of the garden and helping to declutter her shed. We also had some daily tasks like cleaning and vacuuming the kitchen and go for a walk with lovely Pippie or spend some time with Agnes playing some card games and sometimes cooking dinner/lunch. It's been a lovely and pleasant experience overall.

It was such a pleasure hosting Natalie for a couple weeks. She was very keen to experience a different life to what she is used to in Singapore and was open to trying new things. Natalie picked things up very quickly and always gave it her best and strived for a high standard. She has a great sense of humour and her positive attitude is contagious. She got on well with the other two workawayers in the house. We can highly recommend Natalie to any host who is looking for a diligent and positive person to help them out and is fun to have around. She is an absolute pleasure to host.

I had an amazing experience at this workaway! Mauro and Yose are so kind, and were really patient helping me practice my Spanish. They also invited us volunteers to join family events such as an asado and a birthday party! The work was mainly in the garden, and everything was clearly explained. The 5h workday was always respected. The accomodation is a little wooden house just for the volunteers, with a fire to keep warm and plenty of ingredients are provided to cook with. The weather is pretty variable, so I was glad to have warm clothes as well as sunscreen. During days off I enjoyed exploring the nearby mountains, the river and the beautiful lake

John is an incredibly generous host, and The Den feels like a home for the soul. Everything — from the atmosphere to the people and the food — was perfect. His cats are the sweetest, and his kindness makes the place truly special. I wish I could have stayed longer! Thank you so much, John. Keep spreading that beautiful energy and welcoming travelers from all over the world — I hope our paths cross again somewhere down the road.

I was supposed to stay for two weeks with Christa and Turi, and I ended up staying for a month. They were so welcoming from the very first moment and I learned a lot from them; it's a wonderful place to practice italian and get to know the real sicilian lifestyle, culture, music and cuisine (Turi is a fantastic cook!). It was also very exciting to live so close to a volcano. The tasks to do were varied and depending on each person's abilities, mostly outside, but nothing too complicated. The coolest part was learning how to make wine; from grape harvesting to pressing and storage, grazie Antonio e Dino! The rest of the family was very nice too, specially Carmelina, who was like a nonna to us, grazie anche a te. Christa, thank you for being such an empathetic person and putting others first, and Turi, keep holding on to your ideals for a better world. Vi auguro il meglio, sono sicuro che supererete gli ostacoli della vita.

I looked after Noodle and Miso for a week while Katie and the kids were away. It was my first cat-sit, and a really great experience from start to finish. Katie was so friendly and down to earth, and she left perfect instructions for the kitties and the house, and the surrounding area. And even though they came back earlier than expected, I could still stay the last night, and Katie gave me a lift to the bus stop in the morning. Thank you!! Noodle and Miso were wonderful, really lovely to be around, great cuddles, all sweetness and fluff and I miss them already. Thanks for the perfect cat-lovers week. Xx

David, it was a joy to have you come and visit us! You did such an amazing job with the hedge clippers and our garden has never looked better. We were impressed by your work ethic, attention to detail and initiative. And you didn't hesitate in pivoting to window cleaning when it rained. We loved how you fit smoothly into our family life - embracing Ecovillage Halloween, meeting other Workaways and the last-minute rock carving excursion. You were a beautiful role model for our boys. Thank you for all your help and wishing you the best on your travel adventures!

Mara stayed a good length of time at my place and had a cheerful disposition around the home. Her tasks were general cleaning, gardening, planting small trees and shrubs and clearing the yard. She also worked on a Deck Project in which she was amazing on. She pretty much completed building a small backyard deck by herself with only some finishing touches to go. Thank you Mara for the beautiful deck and I will send a photo once it is finalised. Enjoy your time in Brisbane.

I met wonderful people during my stay in Asturias. In August I spent a lovely time with Ángela, Valeria and the family. They adopt me like a member of the family from the first moment. It was so nice to find the family in airport waiting for me and welcome me with a big hug! The house is surrounded by nature and close to the cliffs to see a nice sunset. Ángela is hospitable, she helped me with suggestions on places to visit and things to do and bring me to the airport. Mari and Marcus are excellent cooks! Mari always cooked something good for me. Valeria is a nice, happy and active kid. She is always smiling and was patient with my Spanish. I spent fantastic and fun time with her! Together we did a lot of activity: drawing, having fun with face painting, playing with dolls, making hair braids, artistic gymnastics, making science experiments, playing with Italian, going to the beach, swimming pool, artwork and other things. I also lead an Italian workshop at Valeria's summer camp. I've seen wonderful places and spectacular views during my free time, I have traveled a lot in Asturias. It was an opportunity to improve my Spanish. I’m hope to see you again, I will bring with me these memories for a long time. Gracias por esta experiencia. ¡Ven a visitarme a Italia! Minha experiência com a Andrea foi muito positiva. Ela é uma anfitriã extremamente receptiva e amigável, sempre disposta a ajudar e a se envolver tanto nas tarefas do dia a dia quanto nos momentos de lazer. Mesmo com o período de muita chuva, consegui aproveitar bastante o tempo ali, especialmente pela tranquilidade e pela oportunidade de ter meu próprio quarto, banheiro e cozinha, o que tornou minha estadia ainda mais confortável. Infelizmente, precisei encurtar meu voluntariado para me dedicar a um trabalho de última hora que exigia uma conexão de internet mais estável. Mas com certeza, se eu voltar a Paraty, farei questão de visitar novamente a Andrea e sua "cachorrinha" Puma. :)
