Ivan is a host who makes you feel at home. He knows how to do his job well, he also takes great pleasure to talk to you and teaching many things related to his garden, he is proud abou it. I stayed 1 month and I had a great time in his house in his company and with his dog Asia. I highly recommend this experience with Ivan to anyone who wants to live an experience in contact with nature but with the possibility also to be in the city center in just 25 minutes by direct bus. Thanks for everything Ivan ,bye

Staying with Kieto and Kaylee was a very positive experience😀 Kieto is always a kind and respectful person with a beautiful story to tell. Despite his limited free time, we spent meaningful moments together, such as lunch or dinner and interesting conversations. His lovely girlfriend was also very helpful, offering great advice on places to visit. Kaylee is a lively two-year-old dog. Taking care of her was good and not too demanding, as long as the right attention was always given. This care was rewarded with playtime, cuddles and affection. We had the chance to visit Hamburg and nearby areas, such as Lübeck. The house is spacious and welcoming and it is located just 20–30 minutes from the city center by public transport. We lived this experience in an American-German house, in such pleasant company. Thank you so much and we hope to see each other again!🫶

We stayed with Claire and Andrea for one and a half weeks. The stay was originally planned for two weeks but was mutually ended early following a disagreement around disclosed expectations during a planned house- and pet-sitting period. Work, Tasks & Structure Before arrival, we had an online call with Claire where expectations, routines and rules were outlined. Claire explained that the schedule was to work from 9:00am to 2:00pm on weekdays with the weekends free, which we agreed to because it was clearly structured and allowed us to plan time to explore. We also agreed to set the dinner table and clean up as part of our responsibilities. The work consisted of outdoor tasks (raking, transporting wood) and indoor tasks (cleaning). These tasks were reasonable for a Workaway exchange and were clearly explained. Positive Aspects The positive aspects included:       •     The daily tasks were communicated clearly, and positive feedback was given, particularly regarding efficiency and quality.       •     Claire’s meals were home-cooked and tasty. Dinner was a shared experience, and we enjoyed many conversations around food, family, travel, and Italian culture.       •     Andrea was calm, patient, and generous with his time and knowledge, particularly around food, wine, and local culture.       •     We enjoyed accompanying the hosts on some local outings. Work vs Personal Time As the stay progressed, we found that the distinction between work time and personal time became unclear, as additional tasks were often delegated after the workday had ended, such as walking the dogs. While small requests were understandable and tolerable, some of these tasks took a significant amount of time and regularly cut into what we understood to be our free time. Given that the property is approximately an hour’s walk from the nearest town or train station, these interruptions often made it impractical to rest or properly explore in the afternoons before night fall. House & Pet Sitting (Key Issue Leading to Early Departure) The only issue that arose between us regarded a planned house- and pet-sitting arrangement during the second week. We had agreed early on to look after the house and pets while the hosts were away, and we had prior experience with similar responsibilities. On the day of the hosts’ departure, we were informed that we would not be able to leave the house for more than four hours at a time during this period. This restriction had not been mentioned previously, despite earlier discussions about our intention to explore nearby areas over the weekend. Given the location of the house, this restriction would have made it impractical to go anywhere meaningful during that time. This was particularly difficult because we had already worked and planned to continue working to accumulate time off for exploring on the weekend. With this new limitation, that time off could not realistically be used, as we would have been house-bound. If this requirement had been communicated to us earlier, we would have been able to swap the free day of the weekend to a working day during the week, allowing us to explore the area whilst still maintaining pet-sitting and work duties. We were disappointed that this did not happen, especially after all the work we put into cleaning, helping with chores, gardening and looking after the pets. We attempted to discuss possible alternatives or compromises, explaining that we were not intending to leave the pets unattended for an entire day and had planned our outings between feeding and walking schedules. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no flexibility around this four-hour limit, and the arrangement that we had initially agreed to was no longer being fulfilled by the hosts, which was not fair to us. As a result, we mutually agreed that it was best to end the stay early. Overall Reflection While the experience ended earlier than planned, we did appreciate many aspects of the stay, particularly the food, cultural exchange, and some of the shared experiences. For future volunteers, having very explicit agreements around time off, personal boundaries, and, in the case of house-sitting, having expectations clearly outlined before arrival would be important.

We were here from November 16th to December 7th, 2025. Given our limited ability to communicate in Spanish, we felt we weren't able to connect and interact with the people at the Rancho as much as we would have liked. Despite our somewhat limited interactions, we still enjoyed our experience. Marcos and Ari are very busy people (especially Marcos, who had to prepare bamboo and leave for a construction project in Cancun), but they were incredibly welcoming. They were kind, passionate, generous, helpful, and curious hosts. During our time at their Rancho, we: - helped with the morning routine of caring for the rabbits and chickens - washed bamboo - helped in the restaurant kitchen - filled in potholes on a path - participated in the construction of a "quincha" style bathroom The 5 hours of work per day were respected. The schedule is very flexible and can be adapted to the volunteers' preferences. The food varies in quantity, but it's always delicious! The location for our camper was perfect. Interactions with the people at the Rancho mostly take place during the day. After 6 PM, almost everyone is gone. In short, it was a great experience that we recommend for proactive people who are looking for interactions during the day and quiet evenings, except when there's a drawing or movie night 💓. We already miss Marcos, Ari, Doncheque (and the delicious tortillas from the restaurant)! Thank you all and take care!

I had a lovely 3 weeks at this wonderful spot in the mountains! They're such a kind, patient, genuine, knowledgeable and an inspiring bunch of people and the area is gorgeous. I will never forget being able to see the Mont Blanc while sitting on the toilet hahaha! Plenty of hikes to do around too and you'll always have an enthusiastic walking buddy Tong to come along ;). While I was there we were mainly preparing a big order of honey for Christmas and renovating Lisa's new apartment. I especially enjoyed the renovation work, and I was able to learn a lot even in a short time. I was trusted with the tools and Lisa was so patient with me which I really appreciated. The food is great and there's always so much to choose and cook from. Often Ludo would also share some local wines and always made sure to invite me to come along to different activities (like a comic fair in Bellegarde!). The town is quite a walk away but they were always kind enough to give me a ride back to the house. I would say it helps to know at least some French in order to be able to connect with people better and to join in on conversations! Merci pour tout Lisa, Ludo, Juliette, Emma (and Pittu!) ❤️

It was fun hosting Mateo and Olivia. They are a lot more mature than their ages. We did many activities together and I had also met Olivia's family which was nice. They are good with children and are responsible teachers. They both are always welcome back to stay with us.

We were very happy to have Kristel with us for almost a month. She was a great asset in the team, and all the work happened very harmoniously. Coming from a long travel and a very different atmosfere, we were very happy to see Kristel coming into her power as days passed. It was very beautiful to see how she blossomed in her time with us. She treated everyone with such generosity and care and was always ready to help. It was a big help to us how she was very flexible and adjusted beautifully to the needs coming up for the work to happen. Kristel helped with olive harvesting, she cooked us delicious meals and also helped with cleaning. We would be glad to see her again!

Kieran was a most helpful, happy and kind support for our place. His unwavering spirit of service and positivity was really an asset in the team, and his energy was bringing an excellent atmosfere in the team. We admired as well his dedication and discipline for his inner journey, his self awareness and emotional maturity. He accepted all circumstances with a smile on his face, which seemed to be his general attitude about life. His dealings with the team and ourselves were always very considerate and friendly. There is a peace around him, making things simple and happy. Kieran participated in mandarine and olive harvest, where his spanish was very helpful, cooking delicious meals, cleaning, washing dishes, helping carrying construction material, burning branches, playing with children who where delighted by his authentic company, yoga, devotional music, satsangs, pujas, gratitude circles and connecting games. We would be very grateful that dear God brings him close to us again.

Jitte took care of our kittens for a week and a half, and we met her five days before we left on our trip. As soon as she arrived, she greeted Simi and Wicca without forcing any interaction at all. It was clear they liked her right away! Wicca didn’t even hide, she just watched her from a distance at first, and shortly after was already letting herself be petted! Simi was the same. Jitte was able to give him the injections with no problems from day one, which was a huge relief for us! The rest of the medication was easier, and there were no issues either. While we were away, she always asked us whenever she had any questions, and we were kept up to date on how everything was going. And if for some reason we hadn’t heard from her yet, we’d ask and she would reply straight away! She is a young, polite, calm, and sociable person. When we came back, Simi and Wicca came to greet us, and the good connection between them and Jitte was still there. You can really tell that she loves cats and knows how to take good care of them! We wish you all the best in your future projects and hope we cross paths again someday!

The value of joy through hard work and service did not seem like a new discovery for Jenni, who helped to guide and support the team gently towards an impressive efficiency and good atmosfere. Probably because of her simple & joyful heart, Jenni has very impressive levels of energy and a gentle, moderate, and respectful presence. We were impressed that during weekends, she would go for trips biking uphill in the mountains! Jenni was very open to all experiences our place had to offer and made the best of the opportunities available to her. She would often join the offerings in the temple in the early morning hours, the singing circles, and also would spend time on her own reading the sacred litterature in the temple. She was very good at remembering instructions and following them thoroughly. Jenni won the hearts of all our residents by her kindness and authenticity. We wish you all the best always and hope to see you back here one day!

I only stayed for a week, but really enjoyed my time with Sezer and the kittens! Everyone was very welcoming and it was quite a chilled time with it being a bit quieter in winter with less guests. I mainly focussed on painting two of the bungalows with a protective coating and did a little mandarin picking and guest house cleaning. All the work is quite straight forward(just a little bit of ladder climbing challenged my skills a bit!) and you can just get on with it. Sezer was a great host, like a flatmate really. We cooked sometimes together, but also individually sometimes. He understands workaway really well as he likes to use it for his travels also, and is very open and easy to communicate with. He took us to a local Hammam and gave some great cooking tips and made amazing salads! I was lucky enough to be there with another workawayer at the same time, and it made it a nice vibe during my stay. The surrounding area is really nice with the beach only 5 mins walk away, and Alanya being a nice town to explore. The town was just a bit quiet during my time there since it was the downtime for winter.

We are extremely grateful to this super couple for all their hard work during hay harvest. They are EXTREMELY hard-working with a great work ethic and a can do attitude. Cindy and Alexis fitted in well with our family and nothing was too much trouble. Cindy is a great cook and was always happy to prepare meals :) Thank you! We really enjoyed meeting them and would highly recommend them to other hosts. We would welcome them back anytime. Safe travels ❤️

Having Sophie at home was extraordinary 😃. I’m really glad that your first experience in Australia felt welcoming and supportive. It meant a lot to be able to help you navigate a new place and share what I’ve learned along the way. Hosting Sophie was genuinely rewarding, and I admired her openness and positive attitude about life. She’s a truly kind soul. And Shelby… she absolutely loved you 🐾. You guys really connected. I’m grateful that this workaway became more than just a hosting arrangement and turned into a meaningful connection. I wish you continued growth, good experiences, and success wherever your journey takes. Thank you again for your kind words.

I volunteered by Clive for 6 weeks and it was great! I'm on Erasmus in Malta now and the accommodation here is really expensive, so I decided to volunteer and I'm grateful I found Clive, since he let me plan my volunteering schedule myself so that i could adjust it to my university lectures and meeting with my friends. I could also rent a room for one more month, when I had to write some assignments for the uni and didn't have much time for the volunteering anymore. Clive is quite particular and has a really ironic sense of humour but I liked it a lot and honestly, if I'll come back to Malta in the future, I would love to stay by Clive again. Thank you for everything Clive, it was really a nice time!

Beth and Isaac were superstars at our project. Their energy and enthusiasm was 10/10. They showed fantasic attention to detail and initiative to keep things moving, often going above and beyond expectations. Specifically, Beth recorded and edited amazing content for our social media channels, while Isaac designed and welded a bespoke calisthenics workout station, which has been a gamechanger for the camp. We'd have them back in a heartbeat if we could.
