Lara stayed here for about a week during the olive harvest, and I really enjoyed having her here. Most of the time was spent on the harvest, where she worked well as part of the team. Although it was probably a bit out of her comfort zone at times, she adapted easily to life here. She also helped out in the kitchen and made a lovely mint syrup using mint from the garden. Lara brought a positive and relaxed energy to the group, and we had some fun moments together — including playing cards in the evenings, which brought lots of laughter. A kind and positive person — she’s always welcome back here, and I’d happily recommend her to other hosts.

Estuvimos casi cuatro semana. Lau nos recibió muy cordialmente y fue muy flexible y abierto con las tareas. Desde el principio nos demostró mucha confianza, lo cual apreciamos mucho. Como estuvimos allí a principios de octubre, aún no había mucha actividad en el hostal. Hicimos muchos trabajos de mantenimiento, trabajamos en el jardín y, por supuesto, también atendimos a los huéspedes. Hicimos asados, una noche de juegos de mesa y también una noche italiana. El hostal es un lugar muy bonito y nos sentimos muy a gusto desde el primer momento. Moka, la perra del hostal, es un encanto y salimos mucho a pasear con ella. Algunos días también ayudamos a Lau en su campo y pudimos ver lo que está construyendo allí y cómo vive. Nos gustó mucho el tiempo que pasamos y estamos muy agradecidos de haber podido formar parte de la familia¡ Muchas gracias y esperamos volver pronto! 💜💜💜

I stayed with Andre on his farm and had a very positive experience. The project is genuinely connected to nature and sustainability, and there’s a lot to learn by doing. Andre is respectful, clear in communication, and gives space while also being present when needed. His knowledge about permaculture is truly inspiring. I appreciated the trust and the relaxed but responsible atmosphere. We got along well, and I felt comfortable and welcomed during my stay. I’d recommend this place to people who enjoy hands-on work, learning, and a simple life close to nature.

I had a wonderful experience with my au pair family. The little boy was absolutely adorable and incredibly creative. He always knew what he wanted to do, which made spending time together very easy and fun. We often went to the park and the playground, and I really enjoyed these moments with him. The working hours were clearly defined from the beginning, which I appreciated a lot. I never had to work outside of my agreed working hours, and everything was handled very fairly and respectfully. The location is also a big plus: the family lives right in the heart of London. All the major sights and the most beautiful parts of the city can be reached very quickly, which made my stay even more special. The next time I am in London, I will definitely come and visit again.

Eu amei passar esse tempo. Vivi com ela durante quatro semanas – sim, vivi, não apenas morei. Desde o momento em que cheguei, me senti acolhida. Birgit é uma mulher maravilhosa, interessante e inspiradora. Durante minha estadia, trabalhei principalmente com coisas técnicas e ajudei no jardim e na casa. 2-3 horas. Mas o mais especial foi o tempo com ela e a atmosfera tão acolhedora que ela cria. Mesmo depois do meu tempo como workaway, não resisti e a visitei novamente! Agora sei que, toda vez que voltar ao Rio, com certeza irei visitá-la. ❤️

My first time in Ireland was amazing! Finn and Tony are very pleasant, patient and lovely people. I felt comfortable with everything there. The house is surrounded by an enchanting garden wich is really worth it to go out and take some fresh air. I enjoyed to help them and I'm already looking forward to meet them again. Tobias is very easy to get along with, always respectful, and brings a great attitude to the team. He also has an impressive cooking talent—everything he prepares is delicious and always adds to the group dynamic. One important note: when it comes to playing cards, don’t expect any mercy… he will win! Overall, Tobias leaves a very positive impression.

Wonderful hospitality, great collaboration on interesting and well-planned projects. The accommodation was perfect, with services like linen changes almost like a hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Cam and highly recommend applying to work with him.

It has been a short stay on a journey around the world, but I believe very fruitful for both of us: Luciano is a very friendly and easy-going young engineer, probably at a turning point in his professional career who has landed at my place showing a lot of good will to help in my humble but necessary tasks during the cold season, such as gathering fallen foliage and shredding wood for compost and mulch. And after the work was done my yard was clean as it has never been before. Last but not least the computer has no secrets for Luciano, which has proven very timely indeed for a computer illiterate of my age. I cannot but wish him all the best for his future.

No puedo explicar con palabras lo bacán que fue tener a Nana y Ester como voluntarias. Son de esas personas con las que fácilmente podrías construir una amistad para toda la vida. Su energía, buena onda y carisma llenaron el hostel desde el primer día. Compartir los cafés de la mañana, cocinar juntos y escuchar sus historias fue realmente bonito. Siempre fueron súper atentas y proactivas con todo, aportando buenas ideas y ayudando en lo que hiciera falta. Y los dibujos de Nana… lo mejor 🖤, le dieron un toque único y hermoso al hostel. Solo me queda decir que las voy a extrañar muchísimo. Les deseo todo lo mejor en lo que venga y estoy seguro de que, donde sea que hagan voluntariados, van a estar felices de conocerlas, porque realmente son increíbles. Gracias por tanto 💫

We had an excellent experience with Kim. All communication was easy and punctual. She has been helpful in every way, we would be happy to host her again at anytime :)

Albert is a very nice man! He help me a lot on the garden, also with the seeds and others small stuff on the farm. He likes to be in the nature and he is very good working independently. Also he help me a lot cooking for us, and he is a really incredible good cooker!! everything was delicious!!! He has many interesting stories about his trips and work experiences and he really want to find his sense for the life and I really apreciate it! He was traveling by bike, and he had no problems with low temperatures. Moltes gràcies Albert, ens ha agradat molt tenir-te a casa i serás sempre benvingut!! molts ànims en el teu viatge!

Judith and I had a great time at Sams. We enjoyed working at the Café and our free time while relaxing at all the beaches or running on forest trails. During the high season it was quite a bit of work, but the working atmosphere was always good and supportive. On top you can feel this special island vibe! Sam is a flexible and caring boss, who always tried to support if needed. We had a cute room for ourselves and Sam took always care about our grocery stock. We had a great time with our customers, her friends and the whole Mermaid Crew. Thanks to Sam and our fellow Mermaids for this unforgettable Summer experience :)

Mark was wiht us for a week, He is a very nice boy, very calm and independent. He was helping on the garden, he was not working fast but he was doing the things quite good. Also he helped me cooking some days and i enjoyed talking and sharing time with him. I recomend to have him in your project because he has very good vibes and he likes to learn about everything. Thanks Mark!!!

Estuve casi 2 semanas con Miguel y Carla en el Hostel y a mi me encantó mi estancia allá. El trabajo incluye preparar el café en la mañana, ayudar con la limpieza de la cocina, de los baños y de las habitaciónes y hacer las camas. Algunas veces hay otras cosas pequeñas para hacer. En cambio recibas una cama en el dormitorio y un parte de comida y buenas charlas con Miguel y Carla. Y si tu quieres practicar tu español puedes hablar en español. Alrededor del Valle de Anton hay algunas senderismos para hacer y el cafe en Coco Latte es muy rico. Definitivamente recomiendo para hacer un voluntariado con ellos. Muchas gracias por todo.

I stayed for two weeks and really enjoyed my time here. The tasks mainly involved feeding and cleaning, and everything was clearly explained. Ala and Lyndon are very committed to the animals and put a lot of time and effort into their care. It was nice to help out and spend time with the animals during the day. Moalboal is also a lovely place to explore in your free time.

Peyloubère is an international community where very unique individuals create a beautiful place, together with local people (gardener, house help, farmers...). It is beautiful to see how much attention there is for the local French commmunity and how this gets implemented in practical ways very naturally. It is a sign of the general openness that lives in the community, which made me feel at home. Gratefullness is another focus point which is practiced, f.e. at the dinner table during a sharing circle, which can range from touching to informative, enriching or funny. And often all of those. The job itself was a perfect match for me. Also how Meg handled the communication: At first she took me on a tour around the garden and showed me all things that could be done. After that I was free to choose, which I liked a lot. I do well with a lot of freedom while gardening and I really appreciated the trust that came with it. And whenever I had questions, Meg was there for me. Often she was one step ahead of me, checking in, making sure I had everything I needed. She is very good at taking care: of people, the land, the animals... which is inspiring and a joy to be part of. There is much more to say and discover... F.e. I was invited on some little trips: into the town for a drink in a local community centre run by volunteers, or to a very interesting and mind blowing museum in Toulouse. All in all I had a very enriching experience that I take with me in my heart. Peyloubère is a confirmation of how community and individuality can go hand in hand, and build the place together.

We spent 2 amazing weeks in Oscar’s finca. We worked roughly 4-5 hours per day, in the beautiful mountains surrounding Suaita. Our main tasks were taking care of the fruits and coffee trees, as well as harvesting the coffee. We really enjoyed discovering the full process of harvesting, sorting and drying the coffee. Oscar is so welcoming, making us discover and appreciate new varieties of coffee, and generously sharing his life, activities and new projects at the finca with us. We were independent on our time off thanks to the installations built by Oscar and previous volunteers, and enjoyed spending time cooking with the good company of the dogs of the finca. We hope to be back again soon !

If you're reading this because you've had the privilege of being contacted by Kali then you should accept her immediately! Kali is without a doubt one of the best volunteers we've ever had in the 13 years that we've been hosting. It's been a month since she left and we're still missing her. Kali joined us initially for only 2 weeks, but we all got along so well that she ended up staying 2 months. She's incredibly considerate, self-motivating, respectful, adaptable, genuine, kind, fun, easygoing, hardworking...the list goes on! She's everything you'd hope to find in a volunteer, and ultimately as a friend. During our time together she cooked for us many times, which we appreciated a lot. She's independent, but also very socially flexible - she got on well with the volunteers and guests, and she was also amazing with our kids. She dedicated time to play with them and to genuinely get to know them. She really became a member of the family. During the last few weeks of her stay she took on the daily responsibility of milking the goats and feeding the animals, and mucking out the stables. Other jobs she helped with were: removing old fencing, painting, gardening, house renovation, cleaning, fence building, paving a floor, baking bread...just to name a few. She's comfortable using power tools, mixing large quantities of cement and digging. Everything she did she did with positivity, joy, curiosity and a genuine passion to learn and experience. We are already looking forward to her return :)
