Hallo Freunde! Hello friends! Hola amigas! Привет друзья!

We're Vicky, Franz and Baby Mats!
we're an easygoing, warmhearted, authentic and flexible family from Germany that's currently living some freedom abroad.

Vicky (28) studied International Forest Ecosystem Management and is currently a full-time Mama. She is a strong and rather quiet person who needs some time to adapt to new surroundings and open up. She loves being outdoors, connecting with people and learning from different ways of living. She's very interested in learning a new language too! Before rooting in Germany she spent several years doing Workaway in South America, gaining experiences in different fields (e.g. plant care, language teaching, tourism work).
Franz (30) worked for five years as a machine operator specialized in metal and finished his studies in Mechanical Engineering afterwards. He was seeking for a longer travel since a while. He's hands-on, open-minded and always happy to learn new skills and get to know people and culture. Franz loves chess and sports and is always up for a game, companied by a beer or two.
Mats (11 months) is our little explorer. He's a beautiful human being that loves to make adventures, meet new friends and play and learn as much as he can! You’ll love him for sure. His smile is contagious.

Together, we travelled through the Balkans where we gathered Workaway experiences as a couple. We mainly helped with construction work projects (mainly wood) and enjoyed getting our hands dirty and being part of different communities.

We’re travelling slowly, looking for meaningful experiences rather than just ticking places off a list.

We're an adaptable couple that's loving attention to detail and that has a talent for improvisation. We love to work surrounded by good music (Franz always has a bunch of suggestions) and laughter (or silence to observe the environment and be focused, it always depends on the mood and setting)

The common interest we have found in this travels is definitely construction work. We’re mainly looking for this kind of activities but for a change we’re also open for other tasks .

We're no strangers to getting our hands dirty and can assist with everything from planting and harvesting to maintaining outdoor spaces.

We're having no problem with bodily demanding work and think well of physical and/or mental challenges (if there's a proper rest to recharge, of course).

From basic repairs to more complex projects, we're handy with tools and joyful to grab maintenance tasks - whether it's building a fence, preparing wood or renovating spaces. We're both very motivated to use and improve our carpenter skills.

Also we love to add an artistic flair to a project or to find innovative solutions to tricky issues.
In addition, Vicky has an eye for photography and likes to help with design projects (e.g. social media content, flyer creation).

As a couple, we thrive on collaboration and communication. Our positive and good-natured attitude make us valuable additions to any team or project. We care about honesty and humour.
Since we’ve made some uncomfortable experiences in the past, Another important point for us to mention is a fair work distribution where everybody contributes equally. we believe that work should not be determined by gender and in our relationship we don’t enjoy designating women to kitchen/cleaning duties by default. Instead, we encourage to engage in a variety of tasks based on everybody’s interests and skills.

Vicky and Franz both got stuck in. Getting on well with others and putting their backs into the tasks some of which were fun and some of which were quite challenging. Enjoyed playing chess with them. Would wholeheartedly recommend other hosts welcoming them to their projects and I certainly hope they will come and join us in Biokovina again :-)
