Description
In 2012 I discovered Couchsurfing, which unlocked a new way of traveling (and since then, also hosting) that I much prefer to touristy travel. When I travel, the most memorable and meaningful experiences often come from meeting locals, getting immersed in community projects, and volunteering my time.

I am an educator with experience working with students aged 3-adult. I am always happy to create learning experiences for any age, to play or teach music, sports, etc. In addition to English, I know enough French to get by slowly.
I have some WWOOFing experience, minimal construction experience from hurricane relief work, event planning, etc. I am also a pet-sitting with experience minding dogs and cats.

I love board games and run a conference on game-based learning in educational settings. If you have a board game, I'd love to play! I am an avid cyclist and also enjoy hiking, camping, swimming, softball, rugby, and reading. I'm also a musician. I primarily play percussion but can also get by on piano, ukulele, or saxophone if there is a jam session :-)

Volunteering here was a cool experience. Even if you've never danced BalFolk, you can have a good time at this festival. I arrived two days early to Carl's place and helped with cooking, childcare (his kids are awesome), and prepping the house for musicians who would stay there during the festival. Carolyn is our first Workawayer to bring her (before-us) host Nele to our location.
So we met 2 nice ladies that both appreciated the old buildings at the river Ijzer.

I stayed here for ten days, with a weekend away in the middle. There is so much potential for projects at the brewery, and Hendrik has the spirit and attitude to make it happen.
