Wow, hello! My name is Shira. I am 22 years old, and I am looking to create beautiful memories and make an impact during the time I have between my studies. I graduated from university in December with a bachelor's in Health and Human Services and American Sign Language, earned my Yoga Teacher certification in San Juanillo, Costa Rica, in January, and will be beginning a Master's program in Social Work starting in late August. I am currently working to develop all of the parts of life I am passionate about in order to bring an authentic version of myself into social work, eventually into a form of therapy practice. I am passionately motivated by the richness of human connection, moving in tune with nature's rhythms, honoring the bodies we have through healthy lifestyles, and giving back to the earth. Following Ayurvedic teachings is a passion of mine. The work I do is fueled by a love of movement, play, and creating peace around us that extends beyond. I am drawn to creating a lifestyle with both quiet and activity, having time to create space for creativity and tuning in, yet also putting the mind and body to work. I am not a partier, smoker, or drinker. I can be quite outgoing and love to bring joy and uplift to any space. It would be an honor to share skills, stories, and life with you!

I have been teaching and providing childcare in various settings for the last 10 years. Caring for kiddos and building educational spaces to flourish has been a beautiful experience. I have worked with creative arts of different kinds, integrating creativity into any work I have found myself in. Channeling emotion into dance or movement is my strong suit. While I have received my yoga teaching certification, I have not yet taught, but I would be open to integrating my skills into your community! I currently work at a natural grocery store in upstate NY, providing herbal and vitamin assistance to those looking for supplementation ( though I wish all could have access through the food we eat…). I have experience in communications, such as basic website building and mass emailing. I am open to working with technology if needed! My love for caring for the body and community directly translates to the skills I hope to learn. I have not had much experience in agricultural work, but I am motivated to use my physical abilities and love for experiential learning to gain these skills. I am eager to get into the dirt of Costa Rica and learn how to care for the plants and earth that I adore so deeply. It is a dream of mine to become more knowledgeable on working with the land, growing food, and all things agriculture. I was a metalsmith apprentice under a studio jeweler for 2 years, so I have a base knowledge of how to interact with tools and use physical strength to create something beautiful. I consider myself a jeweler, despite not being in active practice. The skills I have gained through customer service work, teaching, childcare, And communications Set me up with a great tool to Help in a variety of different ways! I am a quick and motivated learner and not afraid to put in the work.
