  • Description

Hi! We are Savannah and John, and we have a passion for traveling, being outdoors, and giving back to the environment.

Savannah - I am currently in college to study film and media studies. I have a passion for storytelling and communicating with others, as well as exploring pop culture. I love music, movies, reading, and especially the outdoors. In my free time, you can find me hiking, by the river, or crafting. I love sewing and upcycling secondhand pieces, crocheting, and learning new hobbies. The outdoors bring me the most happiness. I am a hobby collector, and enjoy learning new things.
One of my ultimate desires is to travel as much as I can. There is so much to learn from experiencing new places and meeting people from various walks of life. I have experience working with a local agriculture nonprofit, where I assisted with the Farmers Market and social media/marketing. I have also been on a volunteer trip in the Pacific NW (Snoqualmie, Washington area), where I worked with local conservation groups.

John - Hello, I am currently working on my masters in renewable energy technology! I have learned a wide variety of skills in my degree from solar, wind and battery storage to other unique, applied technologies such as ground heat air transfer systems, advanced composting methods and other sustainable methods. I have found great satisfaction in working a variety of jobs such as maintaining a conservation easement dairy farm, residential building science + insulating and native landscaping. Spending my time in Appalachia, I have a deep rooted love for all things outdoors. Fishing, hiking, exploring and being on the water are all of my favorite things. I regularly try to make a habit of camping. I also have a niche appreciation maintaining and restoring old cars, my first, a 1991 Toyota pickup engine in my driveway. I hope to use this travel to learn and grow my experience connecting with people, nature and honing in my agriculture, building and maintenance skills.

  • What else ...

We are so excited to participate in Workaway! We have not done a work exchange before, but believe our experiences from past trips and jobs make us qualified as quick learners for this experience. Our goal is to travel as much as we can, and this seems like the most fulfilling way to do so. We love connecting with others and the community! We are looking to travel with purpose and give back to the environment.

We also love hiking, camping, and being outdoors. We are huge music lovers!
