Description
Hello, my name is Rosa :)
I’m 23 years old and grew up near Cologne, Germany. Traveling to Asia, especially Japan, has been a dream of mine for a long time, so I’m very happy to finally be here on a Working Holiday Visa!
I recently completed my bachelor’s degree in History and decided to take a gap year before starting my master’s. I would describe myself as an open-minded, reliable, and curious person who loves meeting new people and learning new skills.
I’m looking for a place to volunteer anywhere in Japan — I enjoy both city life and the countryside. This will be my first volunteering experience, and I’m really excited to start! My main goal is to learn more about Japanese culture, history, and language.
I’m open to different kinds of work, but I especially enjoy practical and creative tasks like gardening, animal care, drawing, building, or general help around the house. I grew up surrounded by animals — cats, dogs, chickens, and sheep — and I’ve always loved spending time with them. My parents had a big garden, and I spent many hours there as a kid helping them grow fruits and vegetables. I like working outdoors, cleaning and making spaces look cosy.
I’m hardworking, adaptable, and enjoy giving my best in any task. I also have experience with physically demanding work, including long hours, night shifts, and using various tools, which has taught me resilience and endurance.
I’ve traveled to many countries in Europe and really enjoy cultural exchange and learning new languages. I’m fluent in English and Italian, while my Japanese is still at a beginner level. I studied Japanese at university, where we focused mostly on grammar and writing. I would love to improve by speaking with my hosts and other guests, and I’d be happy to teach English, Italian, or German in return.
After my stay in Japan, I plan to travel back to Germany by bus and train, avoiding planes as much as possible. I’m very excited for the journey ahead and to learn from every new experience here in Japan!

I’ve once lived with an Italian host family for nine months while attending school there. That experience taught me how much I enjoy cultural exchange and learning new languages. I’m fluent in English and Italian, while my Japanese is still at a beginner level. I studied Japanese at university, where we focused mostly on grammar and writing. I would love to improve by speaking with my hosts and other guests, and I’d be happy to teach English, Italian, or German in return. While I’ve never taught a formal class, I have helped many friends learn German and Italian and have experience with language buddies. I’m excited for the opportunity to further develop my teaching abilities.

What else ...
In my free time, I love drawing, climbing, spending time outdoors, and exploring new cities. I do smoke occasionally but I always respect the house rules and only smoke in designated areas.
