Greetings!
I'm a recently retired finish carpenter, eager to explore and learn. I love spending time in nature, hiking, biking, camping, and just observing. I love traveling, seeing new places and experiencing new cultures. I'm also interested in languages. I enjoy learning languages, and I recently completed a TEFL course so that I could volunteer as an English teacher.
I'm brand new to Workaway. My hope is that by volunteering through Workaway, I'll be able to experience your local culture and language more deeply than I would if I were just staying in hotels and visiting tourist attractions.
I enjoy building things and am an expert woodworker. I trained in Germany as a Tischler and worked for thirty years as finish carpenter, cabinetmaker and furniture maker. I'm also interested in natural building. My wife and I built our own straw bale insulated, earthen (clay) plastered house, as well as a cob outbuilding.
I have a wonderful wife, two children and two grandchildren, as well as two chickens, two ducks, a cat and a bunny. I love babies, children and animals. My wife, jokingly, calls me Saint Francis. I don't smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs. I'm vegetarian but I'm not a picky eater. As long as your meals include things other than meat, then we're fine.
I'm quiet and self-motivated by nature; happy on my own. However, since my whole reason for using Workaway is to learn about local cultures and to practice speaking languages, I'm actually interested in Workaway positions that include a good amount of interaction with my host or other locals.
By the way, my first name is Earnest, but my friends call me Peace.Interests
