  • Description

I am a 63 year young woman currently volunteering/providing service in Australia for the next two year and living and loving the life of a nomad. I love being physically active and am constantly looking for volunteer opportunities where I can work hard and help to make an impact. In the past 8 years I have volunteered at horse rescues in Colorado and Virginia Beach mucking stalls, cleaning pastures and feeding/watering the horses as well as weed whacking, fixing and painting fences and hauling hay. I've been to Thailand, Laos and Guatemala volunteering at animal sanctuaries. While in Costa Rica worked in Construction helping to build homes for single mothers returning to school and with Turtle Conservation. In Belize I worked with rescued manatee and primates. From March to November of 2024 I was in Hawaii volunteering at a small animal sanctuary, working on an organic rhododendron farm and eco-retreat center, an organic fruit and vegetable farm and providing work trade at my son's co-workers home. When I wasn't providing work trade I was house and pet/farm animal sitting. (So much fun. Check out Trusted House Sitters and House Sitters America if you would like some additional information.) I also have years of experience gardening and landscaping 9 homes (weeding, planting, tilling, weed whacking, mowing, hauling rocks, tree trimming, etc.) And I'm pretty handy with a screw drive and a hammer (and I'm not afraid of power tools). While I am excited to visit new places my primary goal is to be of service and hopefully help make a difference. I intend to spend some time exploring wherever I am, but am more excited to be immersed in the culture, the traditions, the country itself. To learn and exchange, to be of service and help wherever I can. I am fortunate that I can follow my heart and be a nomad and provide service on this wonderful planet of ours. I love physical, strenuous work and love to sweat. Love to be outside in nature. Love all animals. Love arts, and crafts. Love music, singing and dancing. I am friendly, compassionate, trustworthy, hard working, honest to a fault, have a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen when anybody needs one, love to experience new things and I’m looking forward to the future and having the opportunity to travel and meet new people. I look forward to hearing from you. No job is too big or too small and I am always totally committed.

As one work trade was through private contact I am attaching his referral letter below. Please also see my reviews on worldpackers.com.

Ande has been fantastic to work with. She spent a month with us doing work trade on the island of Hawaii. Three things I really appreciate about Ande. Number one: Excellent communication skills. If I give Ande a task that is not suitable for her capabilities, she will clearly communicate that she is not able to do it or will need help to do it. Number two: If she agrees to a task, she will do it to perfection. You do not need to hover over her shoulder. She is putting in the work. You do not need to micromanage her. This is especially important to me, as I have done work trade for years, and it is more typical to find people goofing around on their phone and taking long water/bathroom breaks with tasks not being completed to the quality I had hoped for. Number three: She is here to sweat! She loves hard labor in uncomfortable temperatures. She can weed for 6 hours straight, move rocks, scrub walls, etc. She is a work horse. She has been my favorite person to do work trade with. She knows that she is absolutely welcome any time.

  • More details about your skills

Hard worker that loves physical labor (love to be hot and sweaty), love helping others. I am a great communicator and a leader by nature. I am a team player but enjoy working independently. I am not afraid to ask questions or for help. I just want to learn and be of help. Not afraid of simple accommodations (cold showers or no showers except every 3 days, dirt, bugs, etc.) I am dependable to a fault, trustworthy, compassionate and empathetic. I hate seeing injustice and what is happening to our world and I want to be surrounded by like minded people that believe it is our job to love and support and protect the world we live in and Mother Earth to thrive! I love animals and had at least two dogs at a time for over 32 years.

  • What else ...

Love arts and crafts (have a potters wheel, paint with acrylics, etc.) Love to sing and dance, be active (would love to learn to surf), play xbox360 with my 20 something sons. Tennis, read, pickleball, bike, golf, run/walk, hike, animals. I love working outside and throughly enjoy manual labor. Love to sit quietly and listen to the sounds of nature and Mother Earth. No job is too big, too small or too dirty (lots of experience with "dirty" work. Think large animal poop, slime and algae, rats and more during volunteering trips). Retired technical writer and experience as a waitress, cocktail server, busser, hostess, retail sales, freight receiver, secretary, office assistant. Currently retired and have all the time in the world to travel.
