  • Description

    Hey there,

A little about me (this is the copy and pasted bit), I'm 34, originally from the London, but left home when I was 18 and I've been travelling for the most part ever since. I'm a Carpenter by trade, and since 2024 I've been working for a charity in Mexico & the Philippines. Sadly I've been back in Edinburgh (my home base) for the winter recovering from an injury I sustained while working in Mexico, but now that I'm rested and recovered, I'm looking to do a trip through Slovenia for at least a month starting beginning of March. It's somewhere I've wanted to visit for such a long time, and I don't have any work starting until May/June time, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it. I will also be taking detours through Europe depending on where the wind takes me.

I would love to do this with workaway as I haven't done one since Covid, and volunteering on and off of Workaway has always connected me with such wonderful humans and places.

    SKILLS I'D LOVE TO LEARN:

-Metalwork/Welding/Blacksmithing - if you're skilled in this arena I'd be very grateful for any tutilage, its a real blind spot of mine.
    - Horse care/riding - I've loved all the times I've managed to do bits and pieces of horse care/riding on different projects, but would really appreciate an opportunity to spend time learning the fundamentals of care and riding (and yes that means mucking as much as riding). I'd love to have them on my land one day whether I ride them or not, so hoping the universe provides the chance.

I, of course, offer my skills in any way you need, I have a lot of experience with various different building projects & styles, whether that be structures such as houses, barns, saunas, (even a treehouse in Cambodia), permaculture gardens, natural ponds etc. and I really am being sincere when I say building things & working with my hands is my happy place, so please come at me with the passion projects! I love cooking, and am always very happy to share that with people kind enough to invite me into their homes, some of my favourites are Spanish, Indian, Italian & Mexican. Also will never say no a game of chess, with interesting conversations about the world we live.

While being a very social person, I also enjoy and respect personal space, and am more than comfortable taking care of myself on those days where we all just need the sound of silence.

I'll be renting a car for my time in Europe/Slovenia, so will be self sufficient and wanting to use my downtime to explore, which of course any host would be very welcome company so any recommendations would be gratefully received.

I think I've said enough to give anyone reading a good idea about myself, but please feel free to ask anything if you need.
    Many thanks,
    Nick
