  • Description

    Hello!

I am an American medical student with love and passion for nature and animals. I believe that to be a healer in a community, one must ground themselves through getting their hands in the soil and finding roots through service-leadership.

The joy I gain from supporting families and communities drives me to connect with local and global opportunities through homestay. Reciprocity, the smell of morning air, and the sound of a cow moo-ing brings me great happiness.

  • More details about your skills

I have dedicated years to hands-on service leadership in my communities including:

Crop farming at an immigrant led co-op: putting up/taking down fences, planting and clearing crops, harvesting. I am an intermediate Spanish speaker and am comfortable communicating on a conversational level.

I have also worked harvesting crops at smaller farms, and assisted in permaculture gardening at various community gardens.

    Horse child-therapy: cleaned/tacked horses

Apothecary Volunteer: planted and harvested herbs, made herbal medicines tinctures/teas/salves, completed orders for clients in the workshop, delivered up-front involving Spanish speaking with clients

Farmers market booth seller: worked for a herbalist selling her handmade herbs/tinctures/teas/salves

Trauma-informed childcare (working with children/siblings/large families from diverse cultural backgrounds through a trauma-sensitive approach)

Painting and arts, including painting public murals etc. I am very good with fine detail oriented work, and having experience carving-woodworking/knitting/sewing

I am also a good cook, and have some wonderful and flavourful Filipino recipes I learned from my grandmother that I would be happy to provide. I have served in various Soup Kitchens over the past 6 years.

Additionally, I have gained numerous skills from workaways including: walnut harvesting, sheep herding, chicken coop cleaning, eco-printing, wet felting, native planting, etc

I have transferable skills from my patient jobs at hospitals including working with elderly with aphasia, and assisting at a family primary care practice with patients who were diagnosed with severe depression.

My work as a researcher gives me a solid skillset of organization, efficiency, team-work, and positivity!

When appropriate, I love singing while working in the fields to bond with my fellow workers :^)
