  • Description

I am passionate about living sustainably, contributing positively to the environment, and learning about agricultural practices. I seek a Workaway experience that includes these elements, and where I can share the joy of these common interests with others.

I take many sustainable actions in my personal life in the United States, such as managing waste, minimizing car use where possible, and making smart purchases. Living sustainably looks different in other locations, and I am eager to experience and contribute to that! Being in nature and cultivating plants (fruits, vegetables, and other vegetation) brings me a lot of joy. I seek time with nature and plants as my “recharge” time, as it makes me feel connected to my core values of how I desire to care for our earth. It also brings me joy to experience new environments,

To these passions and interests I bring excitement and energy, as it’s easy to be excited when working with my interests. I seek to create a positive community with those around me, where people feel included in activities and that they can share their backgrounds. I am comfortable with physical work and enjoy working hard, and am fairly strong despite my small build! I have some educational background in sustainability, including renewable energy and decarbonization strategies. I am respectful, mature, self-motivated, friendly, and kind to others. I am thoughtful and analytical, so I’ll certainly be reading all the details and reviews of the Workaway sites that interest me!

    Previous experiences - 5x farm-stay volunteer
WWOOF-ed (Worldwide Opportunities for Organic Farming) in the state of Washington, with a plant-based family looking to be self-sustainable with an extensive garden.
Volunteering in Peru - on a family farm with chickens, cows, guinea pigs, and many different crops; additionally at a rainforest conservation site focused on land preservation
Workaway in Thailand - with two wonderful hosts dedicated to living sustainably, taking care of the land, and growing lots of local produce

My past Workaway experiences include gardening / weeding, planting, outdoors maintenance, building outdoors structures, digging trenches, removing invasive species, clearing / leveling land, and other miscellaneous tasks! I don't shy away from hard work. I enjoy contributing to sustainable lifestyles and learning about local vegetation. I have LOVED my Workaway experiences in the past and seek to keep creating new memories!

As part of a Workaway, I hope to experience a positive community with others to engage with and enjoy recreational activities. I also enjoy time by myself to read, stretch, journal, and rest. I hope to have a balance of engaging with others and enjoying quiet time during leisure time.

  • More details about your skills

I have some educational background in sustainability, including renewable energy and decarbonization strategies. My professional background is in data and technology - I like thinking critically about a problem and using data to solve it.

With agriculture and the outdoors, I am very experienced in gardening, tending to plants, and maintaining trails and landscapes. I previously did the WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities for Organic Farming) program where I contributed in similar ways. In other volunteer activities, I have helped construct homes and structures. I am comfortable with physical work and enjoy working hard, but I am limited by my small size at times (I am fairly strong despite this!).

I am respectful, mature, self-motivated, friendly, and kind to others. I am thoughtful and analytical, so I’ll certainly be reading all the details and reviews of the Workaway sites that interest me!
