Welcome to my profile! I'm McKenna and I've made the decision to sell my belongings, buy a one way ticket and leave my country this October 2026 to backpack around Asia. My plans are very open and flexible at this point with desires to travel to Indonesia, Philippines, India, Vietnam, Thailand and more!

Let me tell you a bit about my personality. I am very considerate, clean, organized, adaptable, communicative, supportive, positive, responsible, reflective and excited to learn. I've gone through some big life changes in the past couple of years that have really stretched me and taught me how to trust myself. I love to journal, practice mindfulness and am aiming to live a simple yet adventurous life that I love.

I'm happiest when dancing, traveling, getting a massage, speaking spanglish, in queer community and watching the sunset on the beach or in the mountains.

I currently work for the largest adult, community-based literacy center in my state as an English instructor and coordinator. I focus on family, health and digital literacies and English as a foreign language instruction. I have years of experience working in multilingual environments and teams. I love moments with my students where we connect over cultures and language in shared learning. On the other hand, I also work at a unique and fun restaurant as a server and performer. I love how different my work can be during the week and on the weekends. Through both my jobs, I’ve become known as someone who is communicative, dependable, and ready to work.

While I'd be more than excited to teach English as a Workaway opportunity, this isn't my only desire. I want to try new things! I have a lot of goals and intentions like learning more about communal living, meditation, holistic/herbal remedies, languages, different styles of dancing, gardening/farming/permaculture, cob/mud home construction, living off grid, household maintenance, tourism/hospitality management and whatever you are willing to teach me.

One thing people who know me often say is, “You’d be great at this job.” Whether it’s a completely different type of work, the common thread is usually the same: supporting leadership, building positive relationships, creating organization, and staying focused on the goal are skills that come naturally to me and genuinely energize me.

I hope to connect with you, locals and other travelers while working for you! During my time off, you might find me doing something active, exploring, writing, looking for dance socials, or job searching. I'm very open to spending my time off getting to know you, your family or community more because connection is important to me. At the same time, I really value alone time where I can recharge my batteries. I look forward to finding a balance.
