Hi there!
I'm Matisse, 25yo from Belgium.
Currently planning to trip around Scandinavia with my converted Fiat Tipo.

Hiking, going to remote places and hoping to connect with adventurous people, and get some off grid experience.

I've always had a long term goal of owning my own piece of remote land somewhere to live independently, to start with a big workspace to work out all of my ideas and learn as I go, fail and get better. Coming from Belgium, where everyone is very carreer oriented, i felt very anxious about what we are all so rushed and busy for, as everything we worried about seemed self fabricated and noone seemed to make their own choices anymor, only the choices that are expected of them.
I worked a desk job for 4 years, and i felt that i'm too young to settle for that routine for now.

Now I work freelance as an indie game developer and freelancer, which gives me the freedom to do my job anywhere with just power and internet. That freedom lets me follow my curiosity, discover new places, and learn from people living closer to nature.

But enough about work—here’s some fun stuff about me:
- I enjoy working with my hands, whether it’s helping out in a garden, learning new skills, or fixing things.
- I love apocalypses, and the survival and do it yourself mentality that comes with it. It truly gets me excited every time.
- I have 4 dogs at home (Billie, Basiel, Babette and To)
- I love organising and creating sorting systems.
- I am a beginner welder.
- I converted my Fiat Tipo into a liveable space and plan to stay in Scandinavia for a while!

What excites me most about Workaway is the chance to connect with people who live different. In remote or unique places, whether that’s on an island, a boat, or deep in nature and to learn from their way of life and get inspired by what their visions are.

More details about my language interests
I would love to learn a new language, and i have learnt that the best and fastest way to do so is to just plunge into it, in an environment that speaks it. However i think i would prefer to have a fallback of English, because if you don't have that base language to connect and communicate, you start to feel very isolated very fast.
