Description

My name is Mac, and I’m a dual citizen of New Zealand and the Netherlands with a background in real estate development, construction, and project management, having worked across Europe, the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and China on complex projects and operational environments

Over the past year I intentionally stepped away from that world to travel extensively and immerse myself in retreat, surf, fitness, hospitality, and wellness environments globally to better understand the people, cultures, and operational side of these spaces

Through travelling to over 60 countries, often solo, I’ve become highly adaptable, grounded, and comfortable stepping into completely new environments, connecting with people from all walks of life, and contributing naturally within dynamic teams and communities

This journey has ultimately led me toward building a longer term business called DUORA, focused on retreat development and operations, with a particular interest in helping retreat environments and facilitators create meaningful, well run experiences while preserving the authenticity and atmosphere that make them special

At this stage I’m specifically looking to immerse myself more deeply within high quality retreat, wellness, fitness, surf, or hospitality environments where I can contribute operationally, support guest experience, learn how these businesses function behind the scenes, and continue developing practical on the ground experience within the industry

Fitness and wellbeing are also a major part of my personal life. I’ve been training consistently for over 5 years through bodybuilding and strength training, and I’m currently working toward competing next year as a personal goal

I’m very hands on, proactive, and naturally gravitate toward helping things flow smoothly, whether that’s supporting guests, helping organise operations, assisting teams during busy periods, or simply bringing positive energy and adaptability into the environment

Most importantly, I’m looking to connect with good people, contribute meaningfully, experience different cultures deeply, and continue learning from inspiring spaces and communities around the world :)
