  • Description

Hiya I'm Lucy, from Australia, on a slow and peaceful journey around the world, visiting old friends and making new friends.

I'm a qualified yoga teacher (500 hours) and have been teaching for a couple of years, I enjoy meditation and breathing techniques (and supporting others to learn these), cooking (especially for others), walks, hikes, learning (anything really), being in the garden, being with animals, photography...

When I return to Melbourne (at some currently unknown date), I am hoping to buy some land (though philosophically I don't believe one can 'own' land, but that's a discussion for later), and build a mud house, a permaculture garden, and be as self-sustaining and community-supporting as possible. As such, I would love love the opportunity to spend time in a sustainable farming/gardening/yoga/meditation/intentional community etc etc project.

I did a couple of Workaways back in about 2015! (I had some references from these experiences, but they aren't appearing on my account now unfortunately?!). I also spent about 10 days in the middle of Italy giving one-on-one yoga lessons, painting the guest bedroom, and cooking around February 2024, a week in India building mud bricks at the bottom of the Himalayas in March 2024, and about a month in Cambodia teaching yoga at a retreat centre (May 2024).

Back in Melbourne, I'm a social worker and university tutor/teacher (teaching about justice and law for undergrad social work students), but really I just want to cook all day and move my body (preferably around a beautiful garden or landscape ahah).

I speak Spanish with pretty okay fluency (am ever learning), very basic French and very very basic Arabic.

I've got a lot of experience of living in shared houses across the world, a little experience in intentional communities, and am also on 'CouchSurfing' and have hosted and been hosted - so I'm hoping I'm a respectful and tidy guest, with a good sense of the value in sharing time and also personal time.
