  • Description

Hello there! My name is Alejandro and I'm a freelance illustrator who loves to explore new places as a digital nomad. I'm originally from Argentina and have European citizenship, as my grandmother was Italian. In the last five years, I've lived in Italy and Denmark.

I have a passion for craftsmanship, particularly working with wood and leather. I'm always willing to learn new things during my time with Workaway.

I'm fluent in Spanish and English. I have also learned Italian while living in Italy.

When it comes to food and health, I have no restrictions or concerns. I'm an open-minded person, I don't judge others and strive to create a positive, inclusive environment. I have a soft spot for animals, especially cats.

One of my biggest interests lies in medieval times. I always find myself drawn to historical places and I love attending medieval events whenever the opportunity arises.

Another thing about me: Hosts don't have to worry too much about entertaining me in my free time. As a digital nomad on the go, I don't look to cram in activities to keep me entertained during a Workaway stay. I'm sociable, but I recharge more by being alone in my free time. I fit in best with hosts who maintain a balance between their private life and contact with the volunteer.

Any questions you might have about me, please let me know. I wrote about my skills further down in this profile.

  • More details about your skills

During my longest Workaway experience, over a year in Denmark, I worked at a retreat center with a focus on hospitality, sustainability and permaculture. I was involved in various tasks, including maintenance, power tool operation and facility cleaning. I worked on basic carpentry, painting, general upkeep, gardening, land cultivation, art projects, kitchen assistance, and event support. As a graphic designer, I also designed a map of the facilities on their 20-hectare property. This experience allowed me to develop a wide range of practical skills :)

I'm confident in my ability to handle physical work tasks. Although I believe that heavy tasks require less volunteer time and more rest time. As physical tasks, painting walls isn't the same as moving heavy gravel for five hours a day, at least for me.

Although I've worked in facility maintenance and cleaning in recent years, I'm not a builder or carpenter. I'm willing to help in those areas as long as someone with more experience leads the project.

Also I enjoy illustrating with my tablet. I think I have a good aptitude for various computer software apps, managing social media platforms and doing some audiovisual productions.

I can take care of domestic pets, but I could also learn more about taking care of different farm animals.

  • What else ...

As a historical medieval reenactor in Italy and Denmark, I have gained firsthand experience camping in the wilderness using authentic historic tents. I also had to interact and entertain people visiting our historical medieval fairs. As an artisan, my hobbies have evolved from running a workshop creating medieval replicas in wood and leather to becoming a historical medieval reenactor. I'm deeply fascinated by all the stages and cultures of this era, although my passion lies particularly in the Norse culture.
