Sandy has a knack for crafting engaging experiences and loves bringing people together, whether it's at a skating rink, a community supper, or through creative and inclusive initiatives. Carlos brings years of hospitality experience from the Riviera Maya, with a natural warmth and attentiveness to others' needs that makes people feel instantly at home. Together, we find joy in learning about others' lives and sharing stories, and we deeply value authenticity, kindness, and collaboration.

Sandy is also trained in Reiki and reflexology, bringing a calm, healing energy to those around her, and enjoys supporting others' well-being through these practices or simply offering a listening ear and a grounding presence.

We're motivated by the chance to make a difference, especially when it involves inclusivity and supporting underrepresented voices. Between us, we speak English and Spanish natively, with Sandy learning Spanish and Carlos learning English and Italian — so we're always up for a language exchange. In our free time, we enjoy exploring local traditions, creating fun, accessible products, and immersing ourselves in new environments.

Together, we bring a wide range of skills and experience, thanks to our diverse backgrounds as a homeowner, volunteer, senior project manager, and tradesperson. We're hardworking, resourceful, and adaptable, with a knack for taking on challenges and seeing projects through to completion.

As a homeowner of a 1.2-acre property with an inground pool, volleyball court, and a split-level 3-bedroom house, Sandy gained extensive hands-on experience managing all cleaning, cooking, painting, minor plumbing repairs, pool maintenance including season opening and closing, as well as grass cutting, wood chopping, and weed whacking. Carlos brings hands-on construction and landscaping experience, with skills in building, repairs, groundwork, and shaping outdoor spaces. Between the two of us, there's not much around a property — indoors or out — that we're not comfortable tackling.

In volunteer roles, Sandy has organized community events, brought people together, and contributed creatively to projects aimed at building connections and inclusivity. Whether it's planning, logistics, or simply pitching in wherever needed, we both enjoy helping make a positive impact.

Professionally, Sandy has years of expertise as a senior project manager, honing skills in organization, communication, problem-solving, and working effectively with diverse teams, with a strength in managing timelines, budgets, and resources while staying flexible and collaborative.
Carlos brings a strong work ethic and practical know-how from years in construction, landscaping, and hospitality, with an eye for getting physical work done well and efficiently.

Altogether, we're comfortable with physical tasks, creative problem-solving, and working with people from all walks of life. We're eager to contribute our skills and learn from the experiences Workaway has to offer!

What else... We're both passionate sand volleyball players and would love any chance to get out on a court during our travels — if there's a local game or league nearby, we're always up for it! We also love music in all its forms, and equally appreciate a lively evening with good tunes and a quiet night out in nature, taking in the stillness and the stars.

We're easygoing, open-minded, and always looking to soak up the local rhythm of wherever we are — whether that means joining in on traditions, learning a few words of the language, or just enjoying the simple pleasures of a new place alongside the people who call it home.
