Description
Hello everyone, my name is Hannah and I'm form Germany. This is my first time joining the Workaway community and I am super exited to meet new people and gather new experiences in France, where I will be in October 2025.
I have just finished my studies in agricultural and environmental sciences and am now looking to see how different people live sustainably and together with the nature and people surrounding them, thereby creating socio-ecological change. I am especially interested in learning more about alternative forms of agriculture like agroecology and permaculture, as I don't know that much about them, but feel they are integral parts of a more sustainable future. Also, I have been cultivating a hobby for all things fermented, or pickled or conserved and would love to see how other people do it and maybe also share my (sometimes questionable) abilities :)
Next to my passions for the environment, agriculture and the kitchen , I love simply being outside, be that climbing, hiking, camping or just sleeping, everything is better in fresh air. In addition, my partly extroverted soul would not be complete without regular hangouts with friends new and old as well as good music and laughter.
I hope this gives you a little insight into what motivates and excites me and I am looking forward to meeting you:)

I really love learning new languages, though it not always works the way I hope. Last year I learned Swedish, which is such a fun language. I addition, I am continually trying to improve my Spanish and would love for a talking partner. I would also love to learn some french, which I learned in school, but could not really apply if I tried. Languages I can actually speak and teach are German and English, though of course I am more than willing to share all the half-knowledge I have of other languages:))

More details about your skills
Throughout my studies I learned a lot about different topics ranging from biodiversity, plant species and agricultural practices to climate change mitigation, politics and social sciences. Though of course these are quite theoretical, I have also worked in different places. For one, I worked on a bio-dynamic sheep and vegetable farm in Germany for 6 months, where I learned a lot about agriculture and animal husbandry and general maintenance of buildings and things. In addition, I worked in a reforestation project in Costa Rica and have been working with soil science, taking soil samples. All of these were based on quite hard work outside, so I am accustomed to working with my hands and getting dirty:).
Next to this, I really love making things with Canva (haha not sure if that's relevant), as well as the processing of food. I came to learn about this, because I have been 'rescuing' a lot of food from being thrown away which in turn cannot be consumed all at once and is therefore in need of preservation. Thus, I pickle, I ferment (sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't), I bake sourdough and I have a Kombucha, some of which is appreciated by the people around me and some of which is not haha. I also had a short stint with making chili paste and powder (though I don't recommend, if you have sensitive skin).
