Description

Hey, my name is Hannah, I'm 20 years old and I live in the countryside in the Vienna woods, in Austria. With my older brother, my parents and my two tortoises named Elvis and Vanille I enjoy a very carefree life.
Currently, I'm studying teaching for secondary school. I have now decided to improve my English, so I have come to the conclusion to go abroad for five months to an English speaking country.
In my free time I love to sew my own clothes and in general I'm a creative person who loves to make beautiful, handmade things. I love getting to know new people and cultures. When I was 17 years old, I spent a month in the west of Austria for an internship and even though it was in my home country, it showed me that there are already differences in the language and in everyday life of the locals. I was right on the border to Switzerland and Germany, so I could always make trips there at the weekend. Moreover, I loved socializing with the people there.
However, when I'm not doing an internship or sewing my own clothes, I spend a lot of time with my friends. My friends from school and I love going to musicals. Whenever a new play comes out on the stages of Vienna, the tickets are already bought and we go to see it. I often go to festivals with my friends at home that are traditional for Austria, we always dress up in traditional Austrian costumes and have a lot of fun. All together another point my friends and I like organizing murder mystery dinners. A murder mystery dinner is a group game in which everyone plays a role and a murder is a suspect. Alternating with the investigation rounds, we also eat together. It's always great fun, and by the way, we've never managed to unmask the murderer.
I also love travelling the world, whether it's a weekend of sightseeing or a week relaxing by the sea, I'm up for both. In winter, I always go skiing in the mountains in Austria. Skiing is always great fun and I love the mountains and the winter landscape.

Why I'm interested in AuPair months? My babysitting career started when I was 14 years old. I was lucky enough to look after my cousin's first child who was one year old. This experience was not only a wonderful opportunity for me to take on responsibility. Furthermore, it was certain to be an enriching experience as I was able to form a deep bond with the little girl. Two years later, her sister was born, and my cousin was extremely thankful when I took the older one to relieve her. I was very happy to take this task and was able to develop my childcare skills. Today, the two girls are four and six years old, and our activities together are varied and creative. We spend a lot of time doing arts and crafts and painting, and when the weather permits, we explore nature and go on little adventures in the neighbourhood. This regular childcare experience has shown me how important it is to provide children with stable and loving care.
Because of my education, I spent five years at boarding school and was unfortunately only able to see the little ones at the weekend. I attended a high school for interior design. However, my time at boarding school taught me to be independent and the friends I made there have become my favourite people and it’s still hard not to see each other every day after five years. We have grown into a small, chaotic family and we have learnt to deal with our differences.
In addition, I look after two other girls to earn some money for my studies since September 2024. It’s a family with two girls, who are five and seven years old. I got to know the family through an agency, and this also showed me that I don't have to be afraid of becoming a new member of a family. I'm allowed to look after them twice a week and it's always an enrichment for me.

Through my many years of babysitting experience, I have learnt how important it is to respond to the individual needs and interests of children. I have developed the ability to create a safe and stimulating environment where children feel comfortable and secure. I look forward to utilising these skills and experience during my months abroad and providing your children with an unforgettable time.
