I'm very practically minded and have enjoyed undertaking significant house improvement projects over the years - including installing two kitchens, 3 bathrooms, 1 staircase, 2 decks and lots more.
Description
Hi, I'm an adventurous, fun-loving Engineering and Technology Teacher. I enjoy helping and supporting others - especially practically. I live in Edinburgh with my wife. We have three sons, two and a half of whom have left home. I love being in touch with nature in the great outdoors - fresh air, mountain-biking, barbequing and good company make me happy.
I'm very much motivated by not making a negative impact on the environment and 'existing without costing' (where possible).Interests

More details about your skills
I'm a husband, dad to 3 boys and an engineering and technology teacher of 12 - 18 year olds at George Watson's College in Edinburgh. I qualified as a mechanical engineer from the University of Hull then worked internationally as an engineer for 15 years before training as a teacher - the change of career was to allow me to spend time more time at home with my young family.
I like 'tech' and I'm an experienced house renovator - so far I have 'done up' our 3 family homes - putting in new bathrooms, staircases, kitchens - as well as painting and wallpapering.
I'm an outdoor pursuits leader and take groups of 15 students away for 2 weeks each year - climbing mountains, hill-walking, mountain-biking, kayaking and maintaining the countryside. I also assess Silver and Bronze awards for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
I'm a keen cyclist, skier, tennis and table-tennis player - and enjoy a game of pool or snooker over a beer.
I've excellent communication and negotiation skills - these are tried and tested frequently when dealing with teenagers every day and in my role as local tennis club President.Age

What else ...
I will be on a sabbatical term off from school (April to August) - this is undertake a 'sustainability' project focusing on ways we can work towards net zero. I'm therefore keen to contribute to a sustainable living project in some way. Tracey and I will be 'on the mainland' (Europe!) in our campervan from early May to mid July hoping to get involved in something worthwhile and meaningful and FUN :¬)
