Em here! I'm 26 years old and I've lived in Canada my entire life, though I've traveled a fair bit in that time. I've had a couple Workaway trips throughout Europe, but I've also done some more recent solo travel across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Now I'm looking to dive back into some extended travel across the world!

I'm always looking to learn and experience new things. I love immersing myself in the cultures and languages of the places I travel to, especially while researching for the book series I'm writing! I want to experience community in as many different ways and perspectives as I can, so hopefully I can share in that with you.

I love learning languages, but I haven't had much opportunity to practice conversationally.I learned French in school and work with it for my current job. I can understand it when it's written and spoken (lentement s.v.p.) , though I have little confidence in speaking it, which I'd like to improve.I'm self-taught with Japanese and Dutch, but would so enjoy learning more. I want to be able to hold conversations, even if it's just the basics.I'm fluent in English so I would be glad to teach or help out with translations or even homework!

I've recently been helping my mum out with renovations on her home. I've dug out trenches for electrical ground wire; installed insulation, wall panelling, and flooring; cut and installed dry wall; levelled earth and laid patio stones...whatever needs doing, I'm there!

I volunteer at my local humane society with youth groups that focus on the human/animal bond. I'm happy to work with kids (recently I've been working with 10-16 year olds, but I'm glad to help out with any age) and I love working with animals, too. Whether it's teaching/training, playing around, or just being there as support, I'm happy to help.

My professional position for the past two years has been as a Bilingual Research and Information Coordinator for an accounting firm. It's not the most riveting, but it has given me a fair bit of experience in formatting/organising documents and working within time sensitive environments. I also enjoy editing or talking through ideas/concepts for potential projects.

I can cook and bake and love to learn or experiment with new recipes. The majority of my cooking is vegetarian (like me) so I really enjoy the challenge of finding alternatives that are veggie or even vegan friendly.

I can paint and draw as well as play guitar and sing. I'm intrigued by anything creative, so if you have something in mind, let me know!

What else ...

I absolutely love nature. Whether it's learning how to identify plants or finding challenging hiking trails or taking a dip in a freezing cold stream, I'm enthralled by the world around us. If there are any recommendations for National Parks or favourite trees, tell me all about it.
