Description
Hi, we're Fern and Sierra, and we recently graduated and are looking for volunteering experiences before doing our PhD/Masters. We're interested in learning sustainable practices, hands-on environmental research, and ecological protection.
In terms of hobbies, Fern enjoys playing classical guitar, doing embroidery, bouldering, and hiking. They're also a decent baker, something of a computing enthusiast, and eager to be a hard worker. Fern will be studying Polar Sciences in Sweden in September. Fern is vegan so we're really good at cooking vegan meals.
Sierra enjoys painting, tattooing, and making mosaics out of recycled tiles. She likes to boulder and hiking as well. She's really interested in sustainable building practices, permaculture and off-grid living, and has a lot of programming skills - she's hoping to combine her interests in the future.
We're a queer couple, and anywhere we volunteer should be LGBTQ friendly.
In the future, we're interested in converting a camper van and a sailboat to travel whilst leading fulfilling research-based careers, one day settling down to start a self-sustainable home in some cozy community.

More details about your skills
Between the two of us, we have a bachelors in physics and a masters in computer science. We both speak fluent english and then varying levels of german, estonian, spanish, and french. We're both good at baking and cooking, particularly interesting vegan recipes. We love climbing and thru-hiking, and we both have a lot of energy to burn off.
Izzie has prior volunteering experience at a forest nature retreat, where she painted a mural and did various forest regeneration projects. Izzie has also been a camp counselor working with children aged six all the way to seventeen, and has a lot of experience aiding troubled teens. Izzie grew up on a farm, and isn't afraid to get really stuck in the muck. She's good at gardening, harvesting and long term food storage.
I'm Fern, and I like physical work. I've done autopsies on an internship, metalworking, woodworking and I really enjoy anything that takes me outdoors into nature. I'm also learning how to program computer systems. I've worked as a kitchen assistant, ironically enough frying steaks, and I prefer to be given tasks and left to my own devices.
Age
22 & 23

What else ...
We're both really into board games. Izzie loves to paint and create art in general.
