  • Description

Hi! I’m Chris, a lifelong traveler exploring the countryside with two intrepid feline sidekicks, a trusty camper-van, and a diehard sense of adventure!

My work experience runs the gamut... I've taught college English classes for deployed Navy sailors, managed front-office operations for a desert tour company, and spent several years as a cat caregiver for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. In my off time, volunteering in the wide world has always made for the best adventures! From harvesting olives in Tuscany to managing staff at an international hostel in Utah, I enjoy blending with multicultural crowds and contributing to unique communities where everyone works toward a common vision.

After spending a good six years in the mystical red-rock reaches of the desert southwest, I'm leaping back into seasonal work and volunteering because life’s just too short not to explore every inch of this amazing world. I'm currently spending my second summer season in Alaska with Denali Raft Adventures, and I would love to dedicate the 2026-27 winter season to working for an animal sanctuary or organic farm. With a range of practical skills in feline veterinary care, sculpting, gardening, customer service, and hospitality, along with a strong professional background in editing and all-around wordsmithing, I’m always ready to pitch in with any job that needs doing, and I also make a top-notch casserole and amazing pumpkin bread.

With an eye toward learning about sustainability, gardening, farming, DIY building, and animal care, I’m working toward the dream of creating a small, humble homestead so that I can host future Workawayers, help rescue cats in need, and build a grassroots community of fellow wanderers and storytellers.

If you have a spare room (or parking space) for a hardworking, easygoing gal and a couple of well-behaved kitties, I’d love to connect with you and visit your corner of the world!

  • What else ...

I'm a digital nomad with a very flexible work schedule (and my own mobile Starlink for remote locations). In the artistic realm, I love sculpting polymer clay, and I have all the tools and supplies to host art sessions with anyone who might be interested in learning more about this versatile medium.

My long-term goal is to create a modest homestead and build a creative space for fellow nomads and a safe haven for a few rescue animals. Although I'm a DIY beginner, I'm physically fit and would be eager to work on any aspect of building maintenance or land development.
