Description
Hey there! My name is Caro. I'm a happy, openminded and curious person, always willing to learn new things.
I come from a small village in the Bavarian Alps on the border between Germany and Austria. There is a lot of nature here, great opportunities for mountaineering, hiking, cycling, climbing, via ferrata, etc. We have mountains and lakes. You can swim and do water sports such as kayaking, water jumping, or surfing in the nearby lakes and rivers.
In winter there is usually lots of snow. This makes skiing, cross-country skiing and ski touring fun. The Austrian and Italian glaciers are close by and you can go on great high-altitude tours there.
I love the mountains and rocks the most. A day up there makes me happy. Some hours bouldering with friends feels like vacation for me. I enjoy staying overnight in huts or bivouacs. I don't need much.
I'm married and have two children (aged 20 and 17). All of us love sports and (sometimes crazy) outdoor activities.
When I was young :-) , I studied sports science and completed a PhD. This allowed me to learn about many different sports. However, I still try out new ones. Last year, I joined my son and tried surfing for the first time. In addition to my family, children, and housework, I worked as a ski instructor for tourists, in projects as a sports scientist, and as a trainer. Then I started my own online business selling sporting goods. It was a great time, and I gained a lot of experience in retail, marketing, SEO, social media, website design, and online and offline marketing. A few years ago, I sold my business and struck out in a completely new direction.
For the past three years, I have been working as a Paramedic in the Emergency Medical Services. I love this job! On the side, I volunteer at a ski club, where I look after a group of young ski jumpers and teach them how to fly ;-)
I enjoy traveling to meet people and experience different ways of life. Last year, I was in Kenya (@simbaforkids ... I hadn't planned to go there, it just happened) and Uganda (@tennisforalluganda ... I had planned to go there) exploring and working on interesting and valuable projects. I'm brand new to Workaway. It's going to be exciting!
I enjoy learning about culture and (religious) backgrounds and what they mean to the local people. I like to try my hand at cooking traditional dishes and can also show you our cuisine. I really enjoy physical work. My father is a carpenter and comes from a mountain farm. He taught me a lot about working in the forest, on the farm, and with animals. I enjoy building and repairing technical things around the house. I'm absolutely no expert, but I learn such tasks quickly. I also like driving cars, even on narrow mountain roads, in the snow, or with larger vehicles. I'm used to drive a 4.8t rescue service car.
My goal is to see some interesting places and to meet open minded people. -
