Hey there! We’re Martin & Antónia, two lifelong friends who’ve known each other since our very first day of elementary school.
We’ve been best friends for over 20 years, which is long enough to know each other’s quirks, weird dance moves, favourite snacks, and secret dreams (like owning a tiny house with chickens or becoming an art therapist deep in the woods).
We’re not a couple just two deeply connected humans who grew up side by side, took different paths, and always find our way back to one another. This Workaway adventure? It started like most of our plans do - with a random idea, a shared laugh, and a quick “why not?”
Whenever I see Martin dance, I either want to join him or roll on the floor laughing. He teaches swing, so the moves are solid but the facial expressions? Iconic. He also owns an absurd number of board games (like... more than 30), and he will 100% convince you to play one at midnight.
And Antónia? She's the calm in the chaos. Give her a piano, some clay, or a set of watercolours and she’ll disappear into her own little world, then come back with something beautiful that somehow makes you feel more human. Her pastries? Honestly, a bite of heaven. People tend to feel at home around her, probably because she carries that peaceful, warm energy that makes you want to slow down and just be.
We both have strong roots in scouting. That’s where we learned how to build fires, pitch tents, lead kids, and survive week-long camps in the rain while somehow still having fun. (Do you remember that camp where our tent collapsed and we ended up sleeping under the stars? Good times. Wet times.)
Since then, we've both taken very different, yet beautifully complementary, paths. Antónia has explored a whole range of experiences: teaching kids, baking in a French pastry shop, leading creative workshops, dancing, photographing, working abroad, and now studying art therapy. Martin started with archaeology, then switched gears to work in an NGO supporting children's education. He’s led scout courses, co-organised educational events, and always finds ways to stay involved in youth work and inclusion projects.
We meet every time I visit our hometown, and on one of those catch-ups, Antónia shared stories from her recent Workaway trip to Sardinia. Funny enough, I was the one who originally introduced her to the site years ago. As I talked about the people I met and the places I stayed, Martin suddenly said, “Let’s do it together.” So we picked a direction (somewhere warm, of course), matched it with Martin’s passion for eco-building, and when our calendars lined up... the journey began.
We’re excited to meet new people, offer a helping hand, and share our energy, humour, and skills wherever we go. Whether it’s working with kids, painting a wall, cooking for a group, planting veggies, or singing around a fire — count us in.
Thanks for stopping by. Maybe we’ll meet you somewhere along the way!Interests

Antónia: art therapy, artistic activities and project, event planning and organizing, photography and graphic design, painting, gardening, animal care, piano playing and singing
Martin: I’ve got some basic skills when it comes to gardening and taking care of animals, and I’ve also done a bit of work with social media. I can’t really say I have real building experience, maybe just a little from my scouting days, but I’m definitely not afraid of getting my hands dirty! 😄 And of course, I love to dance and can definitely teach you a move or two.Age
