Description
Hi! I'm Annemay – a curious and positive-minded nature lover from the Netherlands.
Currently finishing my MSc in Forest and Nature Conservation, I’m passionate about understanding the ways people and nature connect. I love learning from others, exchanging stories, and getting my hands dirty — whether that’s in the garden, with animals, or on a community project.
What brings me happiness? Simple things: a shared meal after a day of work, sleeping under the stars, meaningful conversations, or discovering new skills I didn’t know I had. I’m happiest when I feel part of something bigger than myself — whether that’s a forest ecosystem or a group of people working together.
I’m motivated by the idea of living more lightly, more relationally, and more in tune with the land and the people around me. Through Workaway, I hope to contribute to projects that align with values of care, curiosity, and mutual respect.
I’m traveling with my partner (who’s equally hands-on and good company), and we’re both keen to learn, help, and share in whatever way we can. Whether it's eco-construction, animal care, permaculture, teaching, or daily chores — we’re excited to be part of your journey.
Let’s grow, build, and laugh together! -

More details about your skills
I’m a quick learner with a hands-on mentality, and I love working outdoors and with animals. My academic background in Forest and Nature Conservation gives me a solid foundation in ecology, sustainability, and land management, but I’m just as comfortable doing practical tasks as I am reading scientific articles.
Some of my practical skills and experiences:
Animal care – I've worked with both domestic and wild animals, from farm animals to primates during fieldwork.
Gardening and outdoor work – I enjoy physical work, especially when it involves plants, soil, or building something useful.
Childcare and teaching – I’ve worked with children and know how to engage them in playful and educational ways.
Cooking and household chores – I’m neat, organized, and happy to help keep shared spaces clean and welcoming.
Basic DIY & manual skills – I’m not afraid of tools or hard work and love to learn new practical skills on the spot.
Communication & teamwork – I’m a good listener, open-minded, and enjoy working with people from different backgrounds.
In addition, I speak fluent Dutch and English, and I’m comfortable in both rural and remote settings. I value respect, reliability, and a calm, flexible attitude — and I’m always up for a challenge. -
