Description
Hello! I'm an easy-going person who loves meeting new people (I’m often told I have a “chill” vibe). I love animals, especially birds. It still amazes me that all these flying and singing creatures share the planet with us, perceiving it in their own way.
When I’m not birding, I like to write short stories, and often incorporate my animal interests in them. Talking Raccoons, people who get their thoughts from whales, and fish that realize they are in aquariums are some examples of the way I like to mix animals with my interest in the surreal.
After being laid off and while waiting to hear back from MFA programs, I hope to slowly travel from Portugal to South Korea, checking birds off my list while making accommodations affordable through programs like Workaway and TrustedHousesitters.
I’ve also been curious about farming and homesteading for a long time. Gaining experience at any level (animal husbandry, gardening, simple carpentry, or miscellaneous odd jobs) is something I’d be thrilled to do. I have volunteer experience with the Oregon Bird Alliance as a Wildlife Solutions Counselor, answering phone calls about how to resolve human-wildlife altercations. In high school, I worked as a trail maintenance worker for Northwest Youth Corps, where I built trail bridges, cattle fences, and painted informational signs.
More recently, my occupational experience has been in teaching. I taught as an English teacher in Thailand, a substitute teacher, and as a soccer coach. I love connecting with people, as I find that good connections often leave both parties feeling more inspired and understood.

More details about your skills
My skills are mostly in wildlife, writing, and education, but I'm eager to learn about anything farm/garden related! I do have some experience with basic tools and trail maintenance from when I was a Northwest Youth Corps worker. During this job, I cleared trails, painted signs, and built cattle fences and trail bridges. I was also a solar panel installer for a few summers, though I'm not an expert on the whole process.

What else ...
I love speed (playing card game), soccer, ping pong (racket sports in general), magical realism, and watching and discussing animals!
