  • Description

Hi, I'm Abbie! I am an artist residing on a small island outside of Seattle, WA. Photography is my main love - I use alternative process and experimental techniques to bring my images to life. As much as I can I incorporate nature into my practice. Most often I use a coffee based solution for all my film and print development and am exploring salt water fixers. I have an obsession with the pinhole camera and have an ongoing series of self portraits captured in exposures from 30 seconds to 40 minutes. Through my art, I have found the honest pulse of my existence and know that I am on this planet to express through my creative mediums.

Other things I do: I am a potter and love working with wild clay. I am not a trained chef but I love to cook and have a special interest in slow cooked meats and fermented goods. I love poetry - I see the world through the heart of a poet. I write frequently and am becoming more confident in sharing my words with the world.

In another life I owned a small coffee business- for 8 years I imported beans from a family run farm in Colombia. I met them through workaway! It was a kismet crossing that opened up an entire universe for me. My business is no longer operating but I still have a connection to them - they are like family. And coffee is a sacred part of my life. Now a central theme in my artistic work. I see it as a guide that helped me develop into my most true self.

I am a lover of the mystical. I feel my existence is a bridge to the liminal. Nature speaks to me in profound ways and is a potent teacher. I read tarot and love to engage in philosophical conversation.

On the island I live on a hobby farm owned by two artists. We raise sheep and have two dogs. We grow vegetables together and I grew all of the flowers of the land from seed. I also worked as a farm hand for a market produce farm for three seasons and with other farms tending livestock. I have experience with horses, sheep, goats and mini horses. I LOVE animals. Caring for livestock has been one of the highest honors of my life.

I love to be in nature, move slow, enjoy the present, be a part of community and build with others.
