  • Description

As a child one of my favorite things to do was to be outside in nature exploring, climbing trees, catching lizards, making stew a`la leaf and dead bug, and mud pies (mud pie recipe courtesy of my great gra’ma!). Thanks to spending a fair amount of time with my grandparents and great grandparents I developed a curiosity about growing our own food, cooking, and natural medicine at a very young age. My roots, are in the healing power of nature.

I’ve always loved being active! At any given time, I was out climbing rocks, surfing, rafting, hiking, snowboarding, or rollerblading. I was inspired by the people around me that were active, healthy and well traveled. As I found my way in the world my goals developed to inspire folks and help them learn how to take care of themselves physically and emotionally and that includes travel! While gathering as much knowledge as I could to help them, my passion eventually turned into a lifestyle, and then into my profession.

Between my experience as a certified nurse’s assistant and my pursuit of a Masters in Kinesiology with a focus on exercise science, wellness, & nutrition, I realized just how much our health education system is influenced by “big pharma”. This inspired me to walk a preventative medicine path to help people stay healthy and prevent illness. I decided to dedicate my entire adult life to education in the foundations of health, wellness, and functional movement. I got myself through my education by working at health food stores and bars lol. Having been in the health and fitness industry since 1992, I can easily say that I’ve settled into my role as a functional fitness coach and your sustainable living go-to!

I have advised professional athletes, supported both naturopathic and medical doctors as a nutritional supplement consultant, and offered public education around functional movement, wellness and food as medicine. As a budding permaculture practitioner I am also an intuitive, creative, culinary hobbyist, passionate about combining beautiful flavors, colors & whole food ingredients that I've grown myself. Incorporating functional movement into gardening as well as helping folks rekindle their interest in cooking & growing their own nutrient dense food has become another way I support my community! I've had a blast over the last few years helping people add food forests, Victory Gardens, & edible landscapes to their properties as a fun, stress reducing, & sustainable way to grow their own food while bolstering their vitality!

I've found a way to combine many of my passions & talents in how I support folks and want my life to be more than the "job" I hold; I’m on a mission to be the change! I want to live in a world where my stone’s ripple effect creates such a powerful impact that more people learn how to stop working for the weekend, live healthfully, stress free, and be completely present. And maybe, just maybe, create a few ripples of their own.

Once my son graduated high school and moved on his own we started to travel way more! So, my wife and I designed a traveling vardo to tour the U.S. with! It is a self contained RVIA certified RV and we have deemed it the Zamora Vardo! I would love to spend a good portion of our travels in it helping out on organic farms & gardens, eco-projects, and the like. I have many skills and talents and have worked in everything from organic farming and permaculture to construction and landscaping as well as restaurant & warehouse work and even retail. I've been a fish monger, a cobbler, a dog walker, a painter, a baker, a bartender and a babysitter... you name it I've probably done it but I am a life long learner and look forward to the exchange of ideas and community living experience!

Since we travel in our vardo most of the time, I won't need anything but space to park it during my stays. Occasionally we leave the vardo behind though it just depends on the situation. And since China Rose works (full time) with her clients remotely, internet would be helpful but not a deal breaker since we have a few hotspots and her work won’t be negatively affected by my volunteering. She just might join in here and there as well. It sounds pretty perfect to me!

When I’m not coaching or creating fantabulous program progressions for my clients, you can find me barefoot in the kitchen of our vardo (to the delight of my wife), in the garden, on the nearest hiking trail, volunteering, or just doin’ stuff that makes me sweaty!

I am excited to work/trade my way around the world and we look forward to meeting many like-minded hosts and fellow travelers!

  • More details about your skills

Jacqueline of all trades (master of SOME lol), I have many skills!

As I mentioned in my profile I have worked in everything from organic farming and permaculture to construction and landscaping as well as warehouse work. I am pretty handy around the house (especially the kitchen) and if I don’t know how to do something I am a quick study. I have also had many sales positions and can sell anything that I truly believe in with great ease so I would do well at farm stands, mom & pop type shops and retreat centers. I LOVE working with animals and kids! China Rose calls me an animal & baby whisperer because I am very in-tune with knowing what they need/want both physically and emotionally. We even have a profile on Trusted Housesitters so we can pet sit often enough to get our fur baby fix too!

  • What else ...

Although I travel with my wife I am the only one volunteering for the most part. China Rose is a Nutritional Therapist, Clinical Herbalist, & Yoga Teacher so she is happy to offer complimentary yoga sessions and join me in the garden or kitchen here and there. She owns her own wellness consultation business called China Rose Wellness and works with her clients remotely as well as in person at our workshops and retreats. She specializes in women's health and when she isn't working (which is rare because it seems as if she works all the time) she is either meditating, doing yoga, or on the hiking trail with me. This is also why as I mentioned in my profile I won't need any accommodations other than a place to park a 24 ft RV when we are traveling in our vardo and internet is helpful but we do have our own hot spots.

Because of our passions & careers we focus on chemical-free, fresh, whole foods & understand that not everyone eats this way so we often just provide our own meals. We do love communal cooking & are more than happy to collaborate in the kitchen if desired
