I'm taking a career break to travel, something I've wanted to do for a long time. I love to visit new places, meet people and experience new things. I'd love to learn some new skills, practical skills, working outdoors would be pretty great having worked in an office best part of last 20 years. I've done volunteering with a charity who work with young folks, taking them to do outdoor stuff like hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, rock climbing & other outdoor activities. I'm pretty handy at DIY, love my plants, can knit & crochet & up for a creative challenge. I love animals, be happy working alongside some furry friends, they make me happy. I've worked in lots of different jobs, I'm not a young thing but I still love to learn new stuff.

I have a degree in Graphic Design however I never worked in this industry, I purely wanted to study as a mature student (31 till 35 some 20yrs ago, and I thought I was mature then ha ha) and design was what interested me most. It also was extremely difficult to find a job when I graduated in this field and I needed a job to support my family therefore I took an Admin job and have more or less worked in this field for the best part of 20yrs. I’ve also worked as a Support Worker additionally to my Admin job for the last 10 years supporting the same person with Autism in their own home. This has been a really rewarding job, one that I will miss when I set of on the next chapter of adventures. While studying I did bar, hotel and housekeeping work and many other sales oriented jobs which was a lot of fun. Student life was the best, you can do this at any age!
I've always been creative, love to keep my hands busy whether that's designing a room the way I want it, building shelves into a specific space or upcycling a bit of furniture. More recently I've taken up knitting and crochet and I've made a mountain of hats, dog jackets, scarves, ponchos and all sorts! During lockdown I started an indoor jungle, started with a few cuttings from a big established plant and propagated and ended up with quite a lot. I’ve been re-homing & gifting many of them onto new green fingered novices and spreading the joy of the plant.
I've possibly slowed down in recent years and think it's time for a change. I don't want to regret not doing things. I’ve started doing Mindfulness, initially because I really really want to be able to meditate and quieten my noisy mind but also the menopause has had me question life a lot more recently. I want to be in nature, do some conservation work, breathe different air and do something different that doesn’t involve looking at my calendar and trying to fit stuff in and around the fixed 9-5.
I did a few years volunteering when I moved to a bigger city (Glasgow) with a charity, Venture Scotland, they are amazing. They do outdoor-based work with young adults and understand the benefits of being outside for peoples mental health and wellbeing. I’ve met lots of lovely people, went canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, gorge walking, hill walking, stayed in bothys in remote areas and went on camping residentials all over Scotland.
I’m not too bad a cook, love to trial new recipes. Won’t say every one is a success but I am keen to try different tastes. I have Italian blood, my Grandmother is Italian, I can make a great bolognese.Age
57 & 47
What else ...
I love a game of dominoes, we played a lot of this during lockdown, and cards, I seem to be pretty good at my Fiance's family card game called 176, I keep winning.
I also did a few years hairdressing, I think that was because I was fed up paying to get my hair cut and thought I'd get a free haircut, turns out all I did was cut everyone else's for free!
I love cats, and dogs, but recently mostly cats having had 2 black rescue cats as my last pets. Sadly both gone now and we now only have the 2 terrapins who we are sending off to a sanctuary before we head off travelling. They're around 20 years old and hope they go on to make many new friends and live their best lives .
Live music, love it. It's food for the soul. I don't play any instruments but I can tinkle on the piano a bit but my Fiance is a guitarist, he's been in a few bands, loves to rock out the tunes.
I'll let him add in his own bits and pieces, he's quieter than me.Some more information
