  • Description

Hey! I’m Vince — an Australian/Italian traveller driven by curiosity, connection, and just getting involved wherever I can. Over the past 18 months I’ve travelled across five continents, and I’m now spending 6 months in Europe (May–November), keen to slow down a bit and be part of everyday life wherever I land.

I grew up in a big family, so helping out and sharing responsibilities just feels normal to me — whether that’s cooking, working outside, or hanging out with kids. I’m hands-on, easygoing, and reliable, with a background in international logistics, professional sport and construction which has shaped me into someone who’s pretty down to earth, practical, and happy to chip in wherever needed.

I love a bit of adventure and building real connections with people, and honestly the best part of travelling has been all the amazing people I’ve met along the way. I’ve also been lucky enough to spend time in a few different community settings — volunteering teaching English to newly settled immigrants in Australia, visiting older people through local organisations, and helping out on local farms in Japan. I’ve really enjoyed those experiences and the simple, genuine connections that come with them.

For me, Workaway is about giving back a bit while learning from different ways of life. I’m keen to pick up practical skills, improve my languages, and just contribute in a positive way wherever I’m staying. I like being useful during the day and then winding down over a meal and a yarn.

I also enjoy writing and usually have a travel journal not far away — I like capturing moments, people, and the little things that make each place unique. In November 2025, I stayed with a Japanese family with young kids, which I really enjoyed — helping out around the house, getting involved in rural daily life, and spending time with the kids and local community

I like working with my hands and being outdoors. I’ve spent time gardening, growing veggies, and doing general landscaping, and I’m comfortable helping out with most outdoor jobs. I’ve also got renovation experience — painting, tiling, and basic carpentry — and I’m confident using tools and getting stuck into physical work. I’ve worked in construction environments too, so I understand being reliable, safe, and part of a team on site.

  • What else ...

I’m happiest when I’m helping out and being part of whatever’s going on — whether that’s around the house, with family life, or getting stuck into a project. I’m easygoing, practical, and don’t mind taking initiative when something needs doing.

I really enjoy cooking and sharing meals with people. I grew up around strong family traditions and big shared meals, so it’s something I naturally enjoy being part of.

Outside of that, I like being outdoors, whether it’s hiking or surfing. I’m learning guitar and playing a bit of accordion, and I also enjoy reading, writing, and good conversation at the end of the day.
