I like to go hiking and climbing in the summer/autumn and skiing in the winter months. So if anybody wants to join for a hike or ski session just message me. I also want to improve my surfing skills.

Description

Hi, my name is Vici and I'm from Austria.

I'm currently studying for a Master's degree in Earth Sciences. In my free time I like to travel a lot and experience new countries and get to know different cultures and people and not just be there for an all-inclusive-tour. That's why I want to go to Finland next and do a workaway stay.

I've always wanted to visit some scandinavian countries and as our winters in Austria aren't the whitest anymore I thought it would be great to spend Christmas and New Years in such a winterwonderland and maybe even experience the polar lights.

As my friend Sarah also wants to visit Lapland this year and is already in Finland for an Erasmus exchange we thought about doing this workaway stay together. From previously working together we already know that we get along very well during work and her always optimistic, outgoing and kind attitude is just another extra bonus while working together and in general.

Apart from travelling I like to do sports like skiing, hiking, playing soccer and surfing and I am always happy to receive tips on hiking routes, ski resorts or good surf spots.

I love being outdoors and being physically active and would like to incorporate this into my work.

As well as sport, I enjoy reading, drawing, photography and painting. At home I am also involved in several clubs, such as a music band and a soccer club.

My favourite thing about travelling is getting to meet lots of new people, diving into new cultures and eating my way through the local cuisine. Through Workaway I hope to meet many nice and open people, improve my English and experience many different cultures.

My studies require long days in the field in all weathers, so I need to be physically fit and enjoy working in the countryside.

I've been working part-time in a wine tavern for 3 years as a waitress and kitchen assistant.

For the last 5 years I have been working in the sales department of an NGO during the holidays and have gained a lot of skills in dealing with customers, managing a team and generally working with lots of different people.

This year I have also worked part-time in data management for our state government. This has given me experience in handling large amounts of data and setting up an organisational system.

On our home farm I've worked with animals (mostly pigs and chickens), done some tractor work, helped with the potato and pumpkin harvest and quality control, and done some gardening.

On a recent Work&Travel trip I worked on a cattle farm for a couple of months, doing everything from feeding animals and helping with births to cleaning the barn, maintaining and repairing tractors, driving tractors to harvest grass and deliver fertiliser, mending fences, cleaning and cooking. I especially liked working with the animals and the tractors. And I really enjoyed spending time with the family, especially the children, and was able to help a bit with babysitting.

I have a driving licence for cars, motorbikes and tractors.

I also have experience with photo editing programs like Lightroom and video editing and could help you with that.

I have also been playing music instruments like the flute and the saxophone for more than 10 years now and could teach you if you're interested.

What else ...

As well as doing lots of sports I really like watching soccer matches, tennis or F1.

I enjoy cooking and baking, but my skills aren't the best, so I am always happy to learn.

Because of my studies I am interested in the different geologies in the world and am always happy to hear more about some interesting local geological features.

I have a few pets (3 cats and 1 dog) at home and would also enjoy if a workaway stay has pets.
